Project Engineer

  • Technical Planning & Coordination:
    • Review and interpret architectural and interior design drawings, specifications, and BOQs (Bill of Quantities) related to interior woodworks (e.g., custom joinery, doors, wall paneling, cabinetry, built-in furniture, decorative elements).
    • Prepare detailed shop drawings, cutting lists, and material take-offs based on approved designs, ensuring accuracy and constructability.
    • Coordinate with the design team to resolve any technical discrepancies or propose value engineering solutions for wood elements.
    • Develop and implement project schedules for woodworks production and installation phases, ensuring alignment with overall project timelines.
    • Liaise with the production workshop to ensure timely fabrication, quality control, and adherence to specifications.
  • Site Supervision & Quality Control:
    • Supervise the installation of all interior woodworks on-site, ensuring compliance with shop drawings, quality standards, and safety regulations.
    • Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, identify potential issues, and ensure proper installation techniques are being followed.
    • Perform quality checks on delivered materials and finished products from the workshop and on-site installations.
    • Prepare and maintain detailed site reports, progress updates, and documentation of all woodworks activities.
    • Address and resolve any site-related technical issues or challenges concerning wood installations.
  • Material Management:
    • Assist in the selection and procurement of appropriate wood materials, veneers, finishes, hardware, and accessories, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.
    • Manage material quantities, delivery schedules, and storage on-site to minimize waste and ensure timely availability.
  • Communication & Reporting:
    • Act as a primary point of contact for all technical aspects of woodworks with clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
    • Prepare and submit technical submittals, material samples, and mock-ups for client and consultant approval.
    • Provide regular progress reports to the Project Manager, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and proposed solutions.
    • Conduct regular meetings with the site team and workshop team to ensure smooth coordination.
  • Cost Control & Handover:
    • Monitor project costs related to woodworks, ensuring adherence to the allocated budget.
    • Participate in project handover processes, ensuring all woodworks are completed to the required standards and documented correctly.

Bachelor's degree in architecture, Civil Engineering, Applied Arts (Interior Design), or a related field.Minimum of [3-5] + years of experience as a Project Engineer or Site Engineer specifically focusing on interior fit-out projects, with a strong emphasis on high-end woodworks/joinery.Proven track record in managing interior woodworks production and installation.Proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural, structural, and interior design drawings.Strong knowledge of various wood types (solid wood, MDF, plywood), veneers, laminates, finishes, and hardware used in interior applications.In-depth understanding of joinery techniques, carpentry details, and custom furniture fabrication processes.Proficiency in AutoCAD is a must; knowledge of 3D modeling software (e.g., SketchUp, Revit) is a plus.Familiarity with local building codes, quality standards, and safety regulations in Egypt.Excellent problem-solving abilities and a keen eye for detail.Strong organizational and time management skills.Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.Proactive attitude and a strong commitment to quality and safety.
