Material Planning Engineer

  • Develop and implement material planning strategies to ensure timely availability of materials for production.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to maintain optimal inventory levels while minimizing costs.
  • Monitor and analyze material usage trends to forecast future requirements.
  • Collaborate with production and procurement teams to address material shortages or excesses.
  • Utilize all resources or other tools for material planning and tracking.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance material planning efficiency.
  • Generate reports on material usage, inventory levels, and planning performance.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards and safety regulations in material handling

 


Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.Experience with MRP (Material Requirements Planning) methods and knowledge of lead times, scheduling, and manufacturing constraintsFrom 2 to 5 years of experience in a Material Requirements Planning role. Material Planning and Scheduling: Expertise in creating and managing schedules to ensure materials and resources align with demand forecasts and customer orders.Capacity Planning: Strong ability to assess production capacity, identify bottlenecks, and adjust plans to maximize efficiency without overloading production lines or delaying customers orders.Inventory Management: Strong understanding of stock management, demand forecasting, replenishment strategies and ensure availability of raw materials to prevent production delays.Inventory Optimization: Ability to ensure optimal stock levels and minimize holding costs while meeting production schedules and deliveries.Analytical Skills: Proficient in analyzing production scheduling, inventory levels, customer orders trends and seasonality.Leadership: Proven ability to lead a team and capacity to motivate and drive efficiency across departments.Excellent Planning and Analytical Skills.Problem-Solving: Expertise in troubleshooting production issues, resource shortages, or delays, and adjusting plans quickly to mitigate risks.Attention to Detail: Meticulous in managing schedules, ensuring no overlooked details in production timelines, stock levels, or resource allocationLean Manufacturing Principles: Familiarity with Lean practices and continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing waste and improving production efficiency.Kaizen, Six Sigma, or TQM (Total Quality Management) methodologies can be valuable for improving processes and ensuring consistent product quality.
