Job Summary
The Clinical Pharmacist ensures the safe, effective, and appropriate use of medications for oncology patients. This role involves working closely with healthcare teams to optimize drug therapy and maintain compliance with oncology pharmacy best practices. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly knowledgeable, and dedicated to delivering high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and verify oncology prescriptions for accuracy and appropriateness.
- Prepare and dispense chemotherapeutic agents and other medications used in oncology and hematology.
- Provide education and counseling to patients and their families regarding medication use, side effects, and interactions.
- Conduct medication therapy management and review patient medication profiles for potential drug interactions or contraindications.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulatory requirements for the handling and administration of chemotherapeutic agents.
- Educate patients and caregivers on medication use, side effects, and adherence strategies.
- Monitor patient responses to treatment and adjust medications as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with oncology pharmacy regulations, policies, and safety standards.
- Stay updated on advancements in oncology medications, treatments, and emerging therapies.
- Assist in managing and maintaining oncology medication inventory.
Qualifications & SkillsBachelor’s or Doctorate degree in Pharmacy.3-5 years of clinical pharmacy experience, preferably in oncology.In-depth knowledge of oncology medications, chemotherapy protocols, and supportive care.Strong communication and collaboration skills.Ability to assess and monitor patient responses to treatment.
