- Analyze project drawings, specifications, and contract documents to determine the project scope and deliverables.
- Prepare accurate cost estimates for construction projects, covering materials, labor, equipment, and other project-related expenses.
- Conduct quantity take-offs from drawings and prepare detailed bills of quantities (BOQs).
- Collaborate with design teams, procurement, and project management to ensure alignment of estimates with project requirements.
- Research and analyze market rates for materials, equipment, and labor to prepare competitive and realistic cost estimates.
- Evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations to ensure compliance with project specifications and budget constraints.
- Assist in preparing tender and bid documents, ensuring all cost-related aspects are clearly defined and well-documented.
- Develop project budgets and track deviations during the project lifecycle.
- Support the development of value engineering proposals to optimize costs while maintaining quality and functionality.
- Provide cost impact analysis for design changes, scope variations, and unforeseen site conditions.
- Monitor cost performance and prepare cost reports for management, highlighting potential risks and opportunities.
- Maintain a database of historical project costs and market trends to enhance future estimation accuracy.
- Liaise with stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and suppliers, to resolve any cost-related issues.
- 5–10 years of experience in cost estimation, tendering, or quantity surveying, preferably within the construction industry. - Strong technical knowledge of construction processes, materials, and methods. - Proficiency in cost estimation software (e.g., CCS Candy) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. - Familiarity with FIDIC and other contract standards is a plus. - Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail. - Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. - Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines. - Up-to-date knowledge of market rates and trends within the construction industry.
