Define the responsibilities and deliverables of an SAP Basis consultant to ensure the smooth operation, maintenance, and optimization of the company's SAP infrastructure.
Core SAP Basis ResponsibilitiesInstallation and Configuration:- SAP system installations, upgrades, and patches.
- System landscape configuration (transports, clients, etc.).
- Database installation and configuration.
Performance Monitoring and Optimization:- Proactive system health checks (memory, CPU, disk space).
- Performance analysis and tuning (ABAP code, database, system parameters).
- Capacity planning and resource forecasting.
Backup and Recovery:- Define backup strategies aligned with recovery time/point objectives (RTO/RPO).
- Schedule and perform regular database and file system backups.
- Test and document disaster recovery procedures.
Security and Authorization:- Implement SAP security standards and best practices.
- User role management, segregation of duties (SoD).
- Audit log monitoring and compliance reporting.
Troubleshooting:- Incident response and root cause analysis.
- Collaboration with SAP functional teams and vendors for issue resolution.
Transport Management:- Manage the SAP transport system (TMS) for development, quality, and production releases.
- Ensure proper change control and approvals.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field• Minimum of 5 years' experience as a SAP Basis Consultant• Solid knowledge of SAP architecture and infrastructure• Experience in installing, configuring, and administering SAP systems• Proficiency in performing system upgrades, patches, and migrations• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills• Experience in system performance monitoring and tuning• Knowledge of system security and data backup and recovery processes• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills• Certification in SAP Basis is preferred• Experience with SAP HANA and cloud platforms is a plus
