Senior Officer, University Centers for Career Development Communications, Grant Position

Reports to: Senior Manager Communications


Purpose: The Senior Communications Officer will work under the supervision of the Senior Manager, Communications and will assist in the implementation of the communication strategy across the 42 University Centers for Career Development (UCCD)s with 34 universities. He or She will work on strategies that highlight UCCD programs, initiatives, and results through featured industry articles, program reports, web and social media, and conferences and events. He or She will be responsible for design and development of communication material for UCCD on a central level as well as the local UCCDs. He or She will work closely with content developers, outsourced graphic designers, and service providers to deliver material for storytelling, social media, and print publications for project internal and external use.


Responsibilities:

  • Support the implementation of the marketing and communication strategy of 42 UCCDs at 34 partner universities
  • Proactively identify effective platforms for promoting UCCD work and collaborate with technical teams to develop, present, and publish thought pieces that build the UCCD implementation activities as an innovative, effective and impactful development program in the minds of current and future beneficiaries and partners
  • Track campaign analytics and maintain digital media archives
  • Draft press releases and speeches for project events and functions
  • Use and develop media content for UCCD social media platforms
  • Develop electronic production and publishing project brochures, handouts, leaflets and periodic newsletter
  • Serve as the communications or marketing lead on new business proposals, including targeted customer marketing and communications planning
  • Support efforts to win new business or partners through editing, formatting, compiling, and creating graphics for proposals
  • Subcontract and monitor the development of project documentaries and success stories in alignment with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Development Outreach and Communications Officers (DOC) team
  • Work with local staff to bring out the very best in program innovation and impact
  • Perform any other additional duties as assigned


Requirements:

Minimum Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in integrated marketing communications, business administration, or advertising
  • Master’s degree in communications, marketing, business or related field is a plus


Experience:

  • Eight to ten years’ experience in the field of marketing and communication
  • Exceptional writing and story-telling experience and an ability to produce compelling graphics and data visualization pieces
  • Experience leveraging analytics and digital media to drive digital growth and engagement with key audiences
  • Must be proficient in relevant platforms, including LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter


Skills:

  • Proficiency in spoken and written English and Arabic is a must
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and assume responsibility for the organization of various events
  • Experience in managing social media campaigns with good writing and editorial skills
  • Excellent editorial skills and familiarity with Associated Press and Chicago style guides
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and assume responsibility for the program’s marketing communication campaigns
  • Outstanding verbal, written communication, and presentation skills, able to clearly articulate complex issues and formulate recommendations to a variety of audiences
  • Strong organizational and management skills that support delivering multiple priorities
  • Superior writing and editing skills to develop compelling stories succinctly and persuasively
  • Excellent networking and relationship building skills and confidence interacting with diverse work styles, levels, and functions thorough understanding of different social and digital tools and channels and demonstrated experience of producing such content
  • Proficient user of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Working experience with Adobe PageMaker, InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Capacity to work under pressure, multi-task, set priorities, and meet deadlines


Work Conditions:

  • Based in Cairo, Egypt, but will be required to travel to project locations as needed
