Desired Competencies (Technical/Behavioral Competency)

Must-Have

  • Installation and Configuration: Installing, configuring, and maintaining Solaris operating systems and related software on servers, workstations, and other hardware devices.
  • Knowledge of new hardware setup and hardware configuration.
  • Designing Virtualization architecture
  • Installing Control/IO servers and implementing Virtualization
  • Creating LDOMs for different applications and DB, Cluster installation and configuration for Application and Database.
  • Capacity optimization
  • Replacing, CRU parts for different hardware models, PCI-Card online in M7-8, M8-8 etc
  • M8-8, M7-8, M6-32 & T5-4 System Firmware & HBA firmware (QLogic & Emulex) Handling and managing
  • Reviewing Security policies and implementing based on Client environment.
  • Work closely with service desk, network, operations and application support teams to meet day to day operational needs.
  • Hands-on experience on quality RCA's for Sev1 and Sev2 incidents
  • System Monitoring: Monitoring system performance, identifying bottlenecks, and optimizing system resources to ensure high availability and performance.
  • Assigning SAN Disks using Single Root I/O Virtualization (SR-IOV) VF (Virtual Functions)
  • User Management: Creating and managing user accounts, permissions, and access controls to ensure appropriate security measures are in place.
  • Network Administration: Configuring and troubleshooting network settings, including IP addressing, DNS, and routing, to ensure connectivity and smooth communication between systems.
  • Security and Maintenance: Implementing security measures such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and regular system updates to protect against vulnerabilities and unauthorized access.
  • Backup and Recovery: Setting up and managing backup solutions to ensure data integrity and implementing disaster recovery plans to minimize downtime in case of system failures.
  • Patch Management: Applying patches and updates to the Solaris operating system and associated software to ensure system stability and security.
  • Troubleshooting and Support: Diagnosing and resolving system issues, providing technical support to end-users, and addressing system-related incidents promptly.
  • Scripting and Automation: Writing scripts and using automation tools to streamline administrative tasks, improve efficiency, and reduce manual work.
  • Virtualization: Configuring and managing Solaris Zones or Logical Domains (LDoms) for virtualization purposes, allowing multiple isolated instances of Solaris on a single physical server.
  • Collaboration: Collaborating with other IT teams, developers, and stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of Solaris systems with other infrastructure components and applications.
