Design Manager

  • Expert in educational buildings and universities
  • Managing a design team to meet customer needs. Manage and coordinate with consultants and vendors.
  • They include, but are not limited to, production architects, engineers, renders, furniture vendors.

  • Work with team to develop proposals that speaks to the client’s needs, concerns, and objectives.
  • Supporting, understanding and advising the client as to the requirements and obligations in the development of a building design.
  • Encouraging and inspiring design consultants to produce their best work using their full flair, experience, resources and talents in a cost effective way.
  • Ensuring the design process recognizes current legislation, standards and codes of practice, where appropriate.
  • Ensuring design information is of the right quality and keeps pace with project timescales; and Striving to eliminate health and safety risks in the design and financial risks during construction.
  • Submit weekly progress reports and ensure data is accurate.
  • Track and record activity on accounts and help to close deals to meet these targets.

  • Work with marketing staff to ensure that prerequisites (like prequalification or getting on a vendor list) are fulfilled within a timely manner.
  • Ensure all team members represent the company in the best light.
  • Screens potential business deals by analyzing market strategies, deal requirements, potential, and financials; evaluating options; resolving internal priorities; recommending equity investments.
  • Manage the design development and construction document drawing production phases.
  • Ensure consultants maintain schedules and are provided information required to complete drawings.
  • Review, redline, and approve all construction documents to ensure drawings are accurate and consistent (especially between the architectural and engineering documents).
  • Manage consultant’s budgets and discern the need and request additional scope work.
  • Develop and maintain deliverable schedules.
  • Collaborate closely with other related groups so that documents are delivered and evaluated within the timelines established.
  • Capable of identifying any discrepancies between deliverables and constantly evolving project objectives.
  • Identify and maintain any timelines that are related to the Department of Building or any other government agency.
  • Conduct periodic coordination meetings involving related consultants so that information is shared and dialogue is constant.
  • Record and minute all meetings and keep track of attendees’ input.

Qualifications: BA/BS degree in Architecture or Design. Advanced AutoCAD, Revit. Photoshop, Adobe illustrator, MS Office. Minimum experience 15-20 years.
