Project background:

• The project “Inclusion and Empowerment for PWDs” is implemented by Misr ElKheir Foundation, Empowering Local Communities to Support for Social Change in Selected governorates in Egypt is an 18-month, project that aims at enhancing the inclusion and empowerment of PWDs including those with physical impairment, visual impairment and hearing impairment. 

• The project will be implemented in 3 selected governorates (Cairo, Alex and Asuit). The project implementation is led by Misr ElKheir Foundation and will be co-implemented by a group of partner NGOs in these governorates.

• This project is implemented within the framework of cooperation between the Ministry of Social Solidarity and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) implementing on behalf of the German Government with cofunding from the European Union through the Equal Opportunities & Social Development Project.

Key Accountability Areas

• Establishing volunteer development units within partner civil society organizations.
• Forming volunteer teams from within the partner civil society organizations, including people with disabilities and non-disabled individuals.
• Coordinating and organizing advocacy campaigns and support for disability-related issues and their rights with partner civil society organizations.
• Building databases within the organizations about people with disabilities in the target areas.
• Supporting the implementation of community initiatives to assist people with disabilities and their families.
• Contributing to establishing partnerships with government, private, and non-profit sectors regarding volunteering.
• Motivating volunteers on a continuous basis.
• Any other tasks assigned within the scope of work.
