About the role
The EO reports to the Chief Nurse and oversees operations, programming, fundraising, and stakeholder engagement. The EO ensures the organization's mission, goals, and objectives are effectively implemented to create meaningful impact on public health and community well-being.
The candidate will ideally have a nursing background but must have experience working at a senior level with demonstrated success with fundraising and grants in health.
Program Management & DevelopmentOversee program design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation to ensure effectiveness and alignment with strategic objectives.Identify opportunities for program expansion or partnerships to address emerging health needs.Ensure all projects and programs meet regulatory and ethical standards, maintain quality, and are compliant with donor requirements.Financial Management & FundraisingManage organizational budget and financial resources, ensuring fiscal responsibility, transparency, and alignment with strategic goals.Lead fundraising efforts, including donor engagement, grant writing, and developing innovative funding approaches.Monitor financial performance and provide regular updates to the Board of Directors, making adjustments as needed.Operations ManagementOversee day-to-day operations, ensuring operational efficiency and staff productivity.Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the organization.Develop policies and procedures to support organizational needs, including HR, finance, and program operations.Team Development & ManagementLead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team, fostering professional growth and engagement.Conduct regular performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and address any staff concerns.Create a safe, inclusive, and positive work environment that aligns with organizational values.Stakeholder Engagement & AdvocacyBuild and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including donors, government agencies, health providers, and community leaders.Advocate for the organization’s mission and values, representing the organization in relevant forums, conferences, and events.Communicate organizational achievements and challenges transparently to stakeholders and the public.QualificationsEducationMaster’s degree in Public Health, Health Administration, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).ExperienceMinimum of 8-10 years of experience in senior leadership roles within a health-focused NGO or similar sector.Proven track record of program management, fundraising, and strategic planning.Demonstrated experience in financial management, including budgeting and donor relations.Health related background, ideally nursingResearch experience is essentialSkillsStrong leadership and people management skills, with experience building effective teams.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex information clearly.Strong analytical and decision-making abilities with a focus on impact and data-driven results.Proficiency in financial management software, MS Office Suite, and project management tools.Personal AttributesPassionate about health equity, community engagement, and public health.High level of integrity and accountability.Adaptable, with strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.Culturally sensitive and able to work effectively in diverse communities.
