About the Job:
The General Accountant is responsible for managing the organization’s day-to-day accounting operations, including the accurate preparation, recording, and reporting of financial transactions. This role will ensure compliance with Egyptian accounting standards and tax regulations while supporting financial decision-making by providing accurate and timely financial information. The General Accountant will work closely with the Finance Manager and other departments to support financial planning and analysis for the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate and complete financial records by ensuring the timely posting of journal entries to the general ledger.
- Prepare and reconcile monthly financial statements, ensuring the accuracy of all entries.
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual closing procedures.
- Oversee accounts payable processes, including the verification, coding, and payment of invoices.
- Manage accounts receivable by invoicing clients and following up on outstanding payments.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable Egyptian tax laws, including the preparation and filing of VAT and income tax returns.
- Liaise with tax authorities when required and ensure the company meets all tax obligations.
- Prepare accurate financial reports and analysis to assist management in decision-making.
- Provide insights into the company’s financial performance and assist in budgeting and forecasting.
- Support the finance team with payroll processing, ensuring accurate calculations and timely payments to employees.
- Ensure compliance with local labor laws regarding employee compensation and benefits.
- Prepare and assist in internal and external audits by providing requested documentation and explanations.
- Ensure the implementation of any recommended actions from audit findings.
- Assist in maintaining accurate records of the organization’s assets and inventory.
- Reconcile physical inventory counts with financial records and investigate any discrepancies.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as procurement and operations, to ensure accurate and timely financial processing.
- Provide financial guidance to non-financial departments when needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1-3 years of accounting experience.
- Proficiency in accounting software.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to perform financial analysis.
- Very good English language.
