An IT Manager is a professional who ensures that all employees have the technology they need to get their job done, from a reliable laptop and VPN access for remote workers who can't be reached otherwise, to up-close coordination with other departments like HR or finance so data is secure.
Key Responsibilities:
IT Strategy & Planning:
- Develop and implement IT strategies and infrastructure that align with business goals
- Oversee IT projects, including system upgrades, hardware installations, and software deployments
- Identify and recommend new technology solutions to improve business efficiency and effectiveness
Team Management:
- Lead, mentor, and manage the IT team, ensuring they meet performance expectations
- Assign tasks and responsibilities to IT staff, and ensure timely completion of projects
- Provide ongoing training and professional development opportunities for the team
System & Network Management:
- Oversee the maintenance and performance of all IT systems, networks, and hardware
- Ensure the security, reliability, and scalability of company IT infrastructure
- Monitor system performance and provide troubleshooting support for hardware and software issues
Cybersecurity & Data Protection:
- Implement and maintain robust cybersecurity policies and procedures
- Ensure data protection and compliance with regulations such as GDPR or other relevant standards
- Regularly update and test disaster recovery plans and backups
Vendor Management & Procurement:
- Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers
- Negotiate contracts and service agreements to ensure the best value for the organization
- Oversee the procurement of new hardware, software, and other IT-related equipment
IT Support & Troubleshooting:
- Provide level-3 technical support to resolve escalated IT issues
- Ensure the availability of IT helpdesk support for employees and other stakeholders
Innovation & Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and trends to ensure the organization remains competitive
- Drive innovation and identify opportunities to improve IT processes and services
Requirements
- Proven experience as an IT Manager or similar role
- Strong knowledge of IT systems, networks, hardware, and software
- Experience managing IT teams and leading projects
- In-depth understanding of cybersecurity principles and data protection laws
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
- Certifications such as CompTIA, Microsoft, Cisco, or ITIL
- Experience with cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure) and virtualization tools
- Knowledge of ERP systems and enterprise-level software solutions
