Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced MEP BIM Coordinator with 5-6 years of experience in the AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction) industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in MEP engineering and construction, combined with a deep understanding of BIM (Building Information Modeling) processes and tools. This role involves overseeing the development, coordination, and management of BIM models for MEP systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project requirements.
You will collaborate closely with MEP engineers, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure the seamless integration of MEP design elements within the BIM environment. The position requires expertise in BIM technologies, advanced problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- BIM Model Development & Coordination:
- Manage and coordinate BIM models for MEP systems, including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing components, ensuring accuracy and integration with architectural and structural models.
- Ensure MEP models are clash-free and adhere to project specifications and industry standards.
- Perform clash detection and resolution using tools such as Navisworks, Solibri, ACC, Revizto, or equivalent.
- MEP Design & Simulation:
- Develop and coordinate MEP design models, including HVAC systems, electrical distribution, and plumbing networks.
- Use BIM tools for MEP system simulation and analysis, including tools like Revit MEP, Trane Trace, or Carrier HAP.
- Develop and coordinate BIM models for electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting systems, and electrical panels.
- Use BIM tools for electrical system simulation and analysis, including tools like Revit MEP, ETAP, or AutoCAD Electrical.
- Collaborate with MEP design teams to incorporate design changes and ensure accurate representation in the BIM model.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.Experience:5-6 years of experience in the AEC industry with a focus on MEP systems.Proven experience managing and coordinating BIM models for MEP systems in medium to large-scale projects.Software Proficiency:Advanced knowledge of Revit MEP for MEP modeling, family creation, and documentation.Proficiency in Navisworks for clash detection and coordination.Experience with BIM 360 or similar cloud-based collaboration tools.Proficiency in using Dynamo for automating tasks related to MEP modeling, optimizing model performance, and enhancing workflows.Python and API Development for automating tasks and enhancing interoperability is an added value.Experience with Interoperability Tools and Solibri Model Checker for rule-based model checking and quality assurance.Familiarity with integrating point cloud data into MEP models is an added value.Familiarity with Synchro Pro or Vico Office for 4D/5D simulations to integrate time and cost aspects into MEP projects.Technical Skills:Project Management:Strong understanding of MEP system design, including HVAC, electrical distribution, and plumbing.Familiarity with national and international BIM standards (e.g., ISO 19650, COBie) as they relate to MEP systems.Ability to establish and implement BIM Execution Plans (BEP) and Modeling Protocols for MEP projects. Experience managing multiple MEP projects and coordinating across disciplines.Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex MEP information clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.Coordination with Construction & Installation:Coordinate with construction teams for installation of MEP systems, ensuring that BIM models reflect construction requirements and field conditions.Manage the integration of prefabricated MEP components into the BIM model, including ductwork, piping, and electrical panels.Construction Sequencing & Phasing (4D BIM):Develop 4D BIM models to simulate construction sequencing for MEP systems, ensuring that all elements are installed in the correct order and conflicts are resolved.Coordinate with contractors to align BIM models with construction schedules and critical path activities.MEP Coordination & Integration:Work closely with architectural and structural teams to ensure that MEP systems are properly integrated with building design and structural elements.Manage the integration of MEP systems with other building systems, ensuring efficient coordination and minimal conflicts.Quality Control & Compliance:Review and audit MEP BIM models to ensure compliance with industry standards, local regulations, and project specifications.Develop and enforce BIM standards, workflows, and best practices specific to MEP systems.Documentation & Reporting:Generate and manage documentation such as clash detection reports, model updates, and project progress reports.Produce detailed MEP drawings and construction documents derived from BIM models.BIM Implementation & Support:Provide technical support and training to project teams on BIM tools, workflows, and standards related to MEP systems.Assist in implementing and improving MEP BIM workflows, automation, and digital construction strategies.Technology & Innovation:Stay updated with the latest BIM software developments, technologies, and trends related to MEP systems.Explore new tools and techniques to improve model efficiency, project delivery, and design coordination.Required Qualifications & Skills:Problem-Solving:Ability to identify, assess, and resolve issues related to BIM models and project coordination for MEP systems
