Technical Office Team Leader

Job Purpose:

Lead and manage a team of technical office junior engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and support. Set clear expectations, assign tasks, and ensure the team's objectives are met.

  • Lead the development and execution of optimal design and engineering packages for New Energy Power Plants in both offer and order stages, to achieve projects’ goals, company targets, and customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and clients to gather requirements, define project scope, and ensure alignment. either in offer or in order stages to reach optimum technical and commercial solutions.
  • Supports in the training and integration of new comers to ensure their quick and smooth adaptation.

Developing and implementing innovative technical solutions to match any site particular nature and to achieve the client requirements.

Providing continuous technical support to all stakeholders (customers, project managers, junior design engineers, etc.) either in the offer or in order stages to reach optimum technical and

Key Accountabilities:

Site survey for complex terrain.

Ensure Project data collection and review.

  • Review and quality assurance of available resources.
  • Lead the preparation of Technical Submittal that includes:

- Resource assessment studies.

- Layout.

- Specifications, certifications, and BoM.

- Energy Production Calculations.

- GRID integration scenarios.

- O&M strategy and plans.

- QC and HSE plans.

Performing shading analysis (near shading, self-shading, and far shading).

Lead the Conducting of technical studies with complete documentation:

Developing conceptual and detailed plant design for Mega scale and complex RE projects (including PV plant layout, civil works, electrical Balance of System, Grid connection/integration, etc.)

The design output must include: -

The optimum DC/AC ratio.

The best PV configuration, which minimizes the shading effects and optimizes the GCR.

Optimized locations for Inverter stations, array boxes, cable routes, inner roads, power plant MV substation, services and control building, etc.

Performance ratio, capacity factor, and energy yield optimization.

GRID integration recommendations.

  • Supervise the Preparations of Tender and RFP documents including (studies, technical reports, technical specifications, SLD, layout drawings, Bill of Material (BoM), etc. for all components including the balance of plant)
  • Oversees the team and leads the daily tasks of the assigned projects.
  • Ensures that the department’s targets are met and deliverables meet required standards and plans.
  • Monitors the activities and guides the team to perform efficiently.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and recognize achievements. Address any performance issues or conflicts within the team in a timely and constructive manner.

Conducting technical studies – with complete documentation - related to the whole power plant:

Short Circuit Calculations.

Voltage Drop Calculations.

Power losses Calculations.

Cable selection, cable routing, cable laying, etc.

Distribution Networks design.

Preparing detailed BoM and Technical Specifications for system components such as: -

PV modules.

Inverters.

Mounting structures.

LV/MV Transformers and transformer Kiosks.

Main MV Switchgear and MV RMUs.

Control, LV, and MV cables.

Fiber Optic network.

Monitoring and control systems.

Civil works.

Preparing shop drawings for projects execution that includes:

Single Line Diagrams.

Layout drawings.

Schematic diagrams.

Method statements.

Developing the technical competencies of junior design engineers.

Provide technical support to other department functions (tendering, O&M, etc.), and to other company functions (BD, investment, etc.)

Qualification & Education:

Education: B. Sc. in Electrical Power Engineering / Renewable Energy

Years of Experience: 3 to 5 years

Language: Fluent in Arabic and English – French is a plus.

Computer skills:

High mastery level of using: Microsoft office, AutoCAD, ETAP, PVsyst, PVcase, SketchUp.

Technical competencies:

  1. Very high experience in solar energy projects with large-scale exposure.
  2. Deep knowledge of various solar power plant components: PV modules, Inverter stations, Tracking system, SCADA system, BESS, etc.

Deep knowledge of solar energy projects design and simulation tools, techniques, and software.
