Position Summary:

A Technical Office Manager is responsible for overseeing the technical aspects of construction projects, including the preparation of technical documents, project coordination, and ensuring that designs meet project specifications. The role involves managing the technical office team, reviewing plans, ensuring compliance with regulations, and collaborating closely with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to facilitate smooth project execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the preparation and management of technical documentation, including drawings, designs, and specifications.
  • Ensure all technical documents comply with project specifications, industry standards, and legal requirements.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure that the technical office supports the overall project objectives.
  • Review and approve design modifications, shop drawings, and technical submittals.
  • Coordinate between the technical office, construction teams, and procurement to ensure that materials and methods align with project requirements.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, track progress, and ensure that milestones are met.
  • Manage and lead the technical office team, providing guidance and support to engineers, draftsmen, and other staff.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting on technical matters, including progress updates, risk assessments, and resource planning.
  • Handle requests for information (RFIs) and ensure timely responses to technical queries from clients, contractors, and project teams.
  • Monitor compliance with health and safety regulations and ensure that all technical operations follow best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related technical field.
  • Proven experience in a technical office role, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the construction or engineering industry.
  • Strong knowledge of construction practices, project management, and technical design processes.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or other design software, along with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
  • Familiarity with local building regulations, industry standards, and safety codes.
