Supply Chain Manager

Job Purpose:

Supply chain managers keep track of logistics and update the company’s inventory. They analyze operational performance and resolve issues. They also collaborate with vendors and suppliers to ensure all operations (shipping, delivery) meet quality and safety standards.  

 

Duties & Responsibilities

Strategic Planning:

  • Developing and implementing a strategic supply chain initiatives aligned with the company's goals and objectives. This involves analyzing market trends, forecasting demand, and identifying areas for improvement.

Supplier Management:

  • Identifying and evaluating potential suppliers, negotiating contracts, and managing relationships with key suppliers. You'll need to ensure timely delivery of quality materials while optimizing costs and maintaining strong supplier performance.
  • Communicate and negotiate with suppliers and vendors to land more profitable deals
  • Monitor logistics to make sure they run smoothly
  • Maintain supply chain inventory and records
  • Find cost-effective solutions for supply chain processes
  • Ensure all HACCP standards and safety guidelines are met in all aspects of the supply chain (e.g. use of trucks, forklifts)
  • Ensure supply chain processes meet brand requirements and standard

Inventory Management:

  • Overseeing inventory levels to balance customer demand and production requirements. This involves implementing inventory control systems, monitoring stock levels, and optimizing inventory turnover to minimize carrying costs and avoid stockouts.

Material Requirement:

  • Collaborating with other departments to develop accurate production schedules and ensure the availability of materials and resources.
  • You'll need to coordinate with various departments to align production plans with operations demand forecasts.

Logistics and Distribution:

  • Managing transportation, warehousing, and distribution activities to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of products. This includes optimizing logistics networks, selecting appropriate carriers, and monitoring shipment tracking and delivery performance.

Risk Management:

  • Identifying potential risks and implementing measures to mitigate them. This includes developing and implementing contingency plans, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and addressing any supply chain disruptions or crises.

Performance Measurement:

  • Establishing key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the overall supply chain performance. You'll need to analyze data, generate reports and identify areas for improvement to enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives by applying lean principles, implementing process optimizations, and fostering a culture of innovation within the supply chain function.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborating with other departments such as sales, marketing, finance, and production to align supply chain activities with overall business strategies. This includes coordinating new product launches, managing demand changes, and addressing customer requirements.

Technology Adoption:

  • Leveraging technology and digital tools to enhance supply chain visibility, automated processes, and improved decision-making. 
  • This may involve implementing supply chain management software, utilizing data analytics, and exploring emerging technologies like blockchain or Internet of Things (IoT).
