Schools Project Manager

The Sector Project Manager is responsible for providing project planning and management for established projects . Ensure that all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget to avoid over-costs and ensure project profitability.  

 Planning, Management, and Implementation 

  • Responsible for the overall effective and efficient management of the projects and provides support to the Programs Development Department.
  • Implementing and overseeing the monitoring and evaluation framework and work plan for the projects, monitoring the impact and progress of the projects and designing and implementing changes accordingly.
  • Establishing projects schedules, analyzing business plan and needs, and prioritizing resources allocation as well as frequent monitoring to evaluate progress, identifying problems and taking appropriate and timely action to meet desired goals.
  • Ensuring the projects progress reports, final report and ad hoc and informal updates to a range of stakeholders are correct for submission through the Chief Programs Development Officer.
  • Implement and manage the project on a day-to-day basis, coordinate the implementation of the respective activities based on the relevant project document, including, as needed, supervision and guidance of other project staff, consultants and experts with a view to achieving project results.
  • Perform risk management process to minimize potential risks.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors to enhance and maintain a high level of stakeholder satisfaction and engagement level.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation to sustain a smooth reporting line to the management.
  • Facilitating training with a clear needs assessment and focus on outcomes.

Capacity Building and Training 

  • Mentors staff and selected stakeholders, with particular emphasis on Project Cycle Management techniques, the development of logical frameworks in project management and “lessons learned” to develop organizational capacity for running and managing the projects and ensuring their suitability
  • Review the current interaction between relevant organizations and the private sector related to TVET and recommend strategies to further involve the private sector

Human Resource Management 

  • Developing and maintaining productive working relationships with project stakeholders and team members to ensure the smooth implementation of the projects and ongoing liaison with HQ
  • Coordinating activities with service and other departments to ensure the impact of the project on regular operations is minimized
  • Delegate project tasks based on junior staff members' individual strengths, skill sets, and experience levels to ensure a clear working environment among the projects
  • Liaising and coordinating with concerned departments to ensure timely implementation of work plans per procedures and regulations and in compliance with donor guidelines and approved budgets.

 


Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline or relevance.PMP certificate or equivalent certificate is advantageousA minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in educational management, and/or project/programme managementSignificant experience in transformational change and a strong understanding of relevant existing and emerging technologies, and experience with in-demand labor market skillsIn-depth understanding of the TVET sector and labor market trends at national and international levels. Sound and up-to-date knowledge of development concepts, methodologies, and techniques including demonstrated understanding of TVET issuesUnderstanding of the project planning and implementationDeep understanding in project management knowledge areas
