Advanced Construction Technology Services (ACTS)

Job Summary:

The Lead Geotechnical Engineer is responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of geotechnical design within engineering projects. This role involves conducting detailed site investigations, performing geotechnical analysis, and providing innovative and cost-effective design solutions to ensure the stability, safety, and performance of structures and infrastructure projects. The Senior Geotechnical Design Engineer will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality engineering solutions that meet project objectives and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:

  1. Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior engineers and project teams in geotechnical design principles, methods, and best practices.
  2. Site Investigation: Plan and oversee geotechnical site investigations, including soil and rock sampling, laboratory testing, and geological mapping, to characterize subsurface conditions and assess potential risks.
  3. Geotechnical Analysis: Perform advanced geotechnical analysis using software tools and analytical methods to evaluate soil behavior, foundation stability, slope stability, and other relevant factors affecting project design.
  4. Design Development: Develop innovative and cost-effective geotechnical design solutions for various types of structures and infrastructure projects, including foundations, retaining walls, embankments, and slope stabilization measures.
  5. Risk Assessment: Identify and assess geotechnical risks and hazards associated with project sites, such as landslides, liquefaction, and seismic hazards, and develop strategies to mitigate these risks through proper design and construction practices.
  6. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that geotechnical designs comply with relevant industry standards, building codes, regulations, and permit requirements, and coordinate with regulatory agencies as necessary.
  7. Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary project teams, including architects, structural engineers, environmental consultants, and construction managers, to integrate geotechnical considerations into overall project design and construction planning.
  8. Client Management: Interface with clients to understand project requirements, communicate technical solutions, and address client concerns or feedback throughout the project lifecycle.
  9. Quality Assurance: Conduct peer reviews, quality control checks, and technical audits to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of geotechnical designs and deliverables.
  10. Continuing Education: Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in geotechnical engineering through continuous learning, professional development, and participation in relevant conferences and seminars.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification required.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with a focus on Geotechnical design and analysis.
  • Proficiency in geotechnical engineering software tools (e.g., PLAXIS, FLAC, GeoStudio) and CAD/BIM software.
  • Strong understanding of soil mechanics, foundation engineering, and geotechnical design principles.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of managing complex geotechnical projects from concept through completion.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and professional ethics in engineering practice.
