Main job purpose:
To support the teacher in the delivering of the curriculum to our students, working in partnership with parents and the school to establish a supportive and nurturing learning environment in which children make excellent progress.
General duties and tasks:
- Helping to prepare the classroom for sessions.
- Offering emotional support to students who need it and care about the children’s well-being.
- Maintaining a clean, safe and fully organized classroom.
- Working with other professionals such as LDD department and pastoral team to carry out individual education and behavior plans.
- Monitoring students closely in corridors, halls, break area and all areas within the school campus and during trip.
- Attending training sessions and peer observations throughout the year and applying learnt strategies into everyday work.
- Attending weekly meetings with class teacher to review students’ achievements and next steps in planning.
- Attending parents’ meetings with teachers and translating when needed.
- Attending specialist sessions such as PE, French, music to support with behavior and emergency situations.
- Monitoring students on transitions from class to specialists and breaks.
- Carrying out admin tasks such as collecting money/ letters/ iPad etc. and taking photocopying to the designated place at the approved times.
- Carrying out supervision during breaks.
- Helping with displays and classroom decoration.
- Experienced and specially trained LSAs can also be called upon to supervise a class for a teacher who is absent.
