Business Development Associate

Job Overview

The Business Development & Venture Associate will play a crucial role in driving growth across multiple facets of our business. This fulltime role offers exposure across three core pillars, which include enhancing our current portfolio in the duty-free sector, developing new ventures and managing investments. This position also offers a unique opportunity to gain extensive exposure to local and global projects, working directly with senior leadership to develop and implement strategic initiatives. The role will have direct exposure to cutting-edge technology development in fields like AI, corporate relationship and business development with multi-nationals, and even exposure to board room strategic management through the management’s board seats on portfolio companies. 

 

Key Responsibilities

Duty Free Business Development

  • Collaborate with the Managing Director to expand and optimize our duty-free retail operation
  • Spearhead the development and integration of new product categories and premium brands within our current portfolio
  • Design and implement value-add processes to enhance operational efficiency, customer experience and  inventory optimization
  • Conduct comprehensive market research and competitive analysis to identify emerging trends, untapped growth opportunities, and potential strategic partnerships
  • Develop data-driven strategies to increase market share and revenue in existing and new duty-free locations
  • Develop and execute sales strategies, business development initiatives, and marketing campaigns for the duty-free business

 

Venture Building

  • Collaborate with the leadership team to ideate, validate, and develop venture building initiatives
  • Lead the rollout and management of internal and external projects, including recently launched new venture in AI
  • Conduct comprehensive feasibility studies, create robust business plans, and develop go-to-market strategies for new initiatives
  • Identify and secure resources needed for venture success, including talent, funding, and strategic partnerships
  • Implement performance tracking mechanisms and provide regular updates on venture progress and milestones
  • Act as a liaison between different business units to ensure alignment and synergy in strategic initiatives

Investment Management

  • Actively support in managing enhancing diverse private market portfolio of which includes over 20 portfolio companies and over 7 venture funds across the globe
  • Source, evaluate, and recommend new investment opportunities across various sectors and geographies
  • Perform rigorous due diligence on potential investments, including financial modeling, market analysis, and risk assessment
  • Prepare detailed investment reports and strategic recommendations for management
  • Monitor portfolio performance, identify value creation opportunities, and propose strategic interventions to optimize returns
  • Continuously assess market conditions and portfolio companies to identify and recommend opportune exit strategies, maximizing return on investment
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive exit plans for portfolio companies, including potential acquirers, valuation analyses, and execution strategies
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including portfolio companies, co-investors, industry experts, ecosystem networks,  and potential acquirers

Qualifications and SkillsBachelor's degree required; MBA or relevant master's degree preferred Minimum of 2 years of experience in consulting, investment banking, or private equity Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities, with experience presenting to senior stakeholders as well as handling relationships with external and internal groups Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, data analysis, presentations using Microsoft Office suite and other business intelligence tools Demonstrated ability to work proactively and independently within a dynamic, flexible framework Proven adaptability to work across diverse industries and project types Strong entrepreneurial spirit and passion for innovation International exposure and multilingual skills are a plus
