Job Purpose :


The Senior Compliance Officer ensures the company adheres to all legal and regulatory requirements by conducting comprehensive risk-based assessments and maintaining up-to-date compliance policies and procedures. This role involves performing current state assessments to identify and address gaps in compliance programs, as well as conducting operational, financial, and legal audits. The officer collaborates with various departments to foster a culture of compliance and ensures effective communication of regulatory changes and policy updates.


Key Responsibilities:


Risk-Based Assessments:

  • Conduct thorough risk-based assessments to identify potential compliance issues and risks.
  • Develop and implement risk assessment methodologies and tools.
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of risk management processes.
  • Provide recommendations to mitigate identified risks.
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure risk assessments are comprehensive and up-to-date.

Current State Assessments:

  • Perform current state assessments to evaluate existing compliance programs.
  • Identify gaps and areas for improvement in current compliance practices.
  • Develop action plans to address identified deficiencies.
  • Track progress and ensure timely implementation of corrective actions.
  • Provide regular updates and reports on the status of compliance programs.

Policy and Procedure Writing/Review:

  • Write and review compliance policies and procedures to ensure they are current and effective.
  • Ensure policies and procedures are aligned with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Communicate policy changes and updates to relevant stakeholders.
  • Conduct training sessions to ensure understanding and adherence to policies.
  • Regularly review and update policies to reflect changes in regulations or business operations.

Operational, Financial, and Legal Compliance Audits:

  • Conduct operational, financial, and legal compliance audits to ensure adherence to regulations and internal policies.
  • Develop audit plans and schedules.
  • Document audit findings and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Follow up on audit findings to ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Prepare detailed audit reports and present findings to senior management.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with internal teams, including legal, finance, and operations, to ensure a cohesive compliance strategy.
  • Provide guidance and support to departments on compliance-related matters.
  • Foster a culture of compliance within the organization.
  • Communicate effectively with regulatory authorities and external auditors.
  • Keep abreast of regulatory changes and ensure timely communication to relevant stakeholders.



KEY EXPERTISE:


Education and Experience:

  • Education: BS in accounting, management, or similar fields.
  • Experience: 4-5 years of experience in compliance, internal audit, business consulting, or similar fields.


Functional Competencies:

  • Risk Management: Proficient in conducting risk-based assessments and developing risk mitigation strategies.
  • Policy Development: Skilled in writing and reviewing compliance policies and procedures.
  • Audit Proficiency: Experienced in conducting operational, financial, and legal compliance audits.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze complex data and provide actionable insights.
