Job Overview:
The Purchasing and Planning Engineer will be primarily responsible for managing the procurement of raw materials, packaging materials, and spare parts for the company. Additionally, this role involves the planning, coordination of installation of new production lines. This dual-focus role requires a detailed-oriented engineer with strong project management and procurement skills to ensure cost-effective purchasing while meeting quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Purchasing Management:
- Manage the procurement of raw materials, packaging materials, and spare parts.
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of high-quality materials.
- Evaluate supplier performance and negotiate contracts to achieve cost-effective purchasing.

- Project Planning and Management:
- Develop detailed project plans for the installation of new production lines, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including production, maintenance, quality assurance, and procurement, to ensure all project requirements are met.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions to stay on schedule and within budget.
- Technical Analysis and Design:
- Conduct feasibility studies and technical assessments for new production line installations.
- Prepare engineering designs, specifications, and layouts for production lines, ensuring compliance with industry standards and company requirements.
- Evaluate and select appropriate equipment and technologies to optimize production efficiency and quality.
- Supplier and Contractor Management:
- Liaise with equipment suppliers and contractors to obtain quotations, negotiate terms, and manage the procurement process.
- Oversee the installation work performed by contractors, ensuring adherence to project specifications and timelines.
- Conduct inspections and quality checks on installed equipment and systems.
- Cost Control and Budgeting:
- Prepare and manage project budgets, tracking expenses and ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement measures to reduce project costs without compromising quality.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure all installation activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Develop and implement safety plans and procedures for the installation projects.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation measures to minimize project risks.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including plans, specifications, progress reports, and as-built drawings.
- Provide regular updates to senior management on project status, including progress, risks, and financial performance.
- Prepare final project reports and conduct post-installation reviews to capture lessons learned and continuous improvement opportunities.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identify and implement best practices and innovative solutions to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of production line installations.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering department and across the company.
Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or related field).Minimum of [2] years of experience in procurement and project planning/management, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment.Strong knowledge of production line installation processes, equipment, and technologies.Proven ability to manage complex projects and meet deadlines.Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.Proficiency in project management software and tools (e.g., MS Project, AutoCAD, Primavera, MS Office).Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations related to manufacturing and installation activities.Experience in purchasing and supply chain management.Working Conditions:This position may require occasional travel to supplier sites or other company locations.Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends or evenings, as needed to meet project deadlines.
