Responsibilities:

Cost Estimation and Budgeting:

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, and other expenses.
  • Develop budgets and monitor project expenditures throughout the construction process.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and provide recommendations to optimize project costs.

Tendering and Procurement:

  • Manage the tendering process, including preparing tender documents and evaluating bids from contractors and suppliers.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements in procurement activities.

Contract Administration:

  • Administer construction contracts and manage contractual relationships with stakeholders.
  • Prepare and review contract documents, including variations and change orders.
  • Monitor contract performance and resolve disputes or claims as they arise.

Quantity Surveying:

  • Take off quantities from architectural and engineering drawings.
  • Measure and value work done on site, including preparing interim valuations and final accounts.
  • Assess and manage variations to contract scope and associated costs.

Cost Control and Reporting:

  • Monitor project costs against budgets and forecasts.
  • Prepare regular cost reports and financial forecasts for management and clients.
  • Analyze cost data to identify trends and areas for improvement.

Risk Management:

  • Identify potential risks and opportunities related to cost and contracts.
  • Develop risk management strategies and contingency plans to mitigate risks.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate with project teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure effective cost management and contract administration.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, providing updates on cost status, variations, and financial implications.

Requirements:Education: Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. A postgraduate qualification may be advantageous.Experience: Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or in a related role within the construction industry.Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of construction contracts, cost management principles, and quantity surveying techniques.Analytical Skills: Excellent numerical and analytical abilities, with a keen attention to detail.Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical information clearly and concisely.Software Skills: Proficiency in quantity surveying software and tools (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam, BIM).
