  • Maintaining a departmental handbook
  • Preparing the HOD calendar monthly/quarterly using the school template.
  • Maintaining a scheme of work, which summarizes the content of work to be covered in each year, quarter, month, and day and gives guidance on teaching strategies and the availability of teaching resources.
  • Ensuring that lesson plans are correctly done and have been uploaded to the drive on a weekly basis.
  • Ensuring that the teachers uploaded the weekly plans to the LMS according to the pacing guide.
  • Ensuring that all study materials, worksheets, and quizzes are correctly done and have been uploaded to the LMS on time.
  • Checking the students’ attendance and grades on the LMS on a weekly basis.
  • Checking parents’ messages on the LMS, following up with the teachers, and informing the school principal about any complaints or problems.
  • Attending parent – teacher conferences.
  • Delivering the HOD weekly follow-up report every Sunday at 10:00 a.m.
  • Conducting a minimum of one staff meeting every week.
  • Delivering the HOD binder to the principal’s office biweekly.
  • Checking a sample of the students’ books, copybooks, and worksheets every day to follow up on the accuracy of the correction.
  • Informing the school principal in case of a teacher’s absence and preparing the substitution schedule and materials.
  • Ensure that the teachers explain the assigned lesson during the substitution session.
  • Replacing any teacher by himself/herself in case of shortage.
  • Preparing any required study materials or exams.
  • Heading the exam correction committee and ensuring that all his/her staff members are following the control committee instructions.
  • Helping the staff members analyze the exam results, identify the gaps, and write appropriate action plans.
  • Submit high achiever and slow learner lists at the beginning of each quarter.
  • Preparing the support session schedules and materials in the first week of each quarter.
  • Attending some support sessions to follow up on the students’ progress and ensure that the teachers are following the action plans.
  • Submitting the support sessions follow-up reports to be sent to the parents on a weekly basis.
  • Ensuring that the parents are informed about their kid’s performance through all available channels.
  • Messages and posts must be revised by the HOD.
  • Ensuring that all students’ grades have been correctly uploaded to the drive and to the LMS.
  • Preparing the event plans to be submitted and discussed with the school principal two weeks prior to the event.
  • Conducting a minimum of two class visits on a daily basis. (Using ELEOT & CV templates)
  • Submitting teacher performance evaluation forms by the end of each quarter.
  • Preparing peer coaching schedules and making sure that the teachers are following them and submitting the peer coaching reports.
  • Preparing PD recommendations and helping the staff by holding workshops to encourage them to exchange knowledge and experiences when needed.
  • maintaining, and acting on a departmental development plan.
  • Submitting the end-of-year report by the end of the year.

 


Required Skills      5 years, minimum, relevant experience in leading teams, teaching and working with adolescents                       Demonstrate excellent organizational skills and ability to motivate people.                                       Have excellent integrity and demonstrate good moral character and initiative.Additional   Effective writing and oral communication skills to conduct meetings and training sessions to prepare reports that are clear, complete comprehensive.   Experience in working as a team leader. Ability to present a positive image of the organization to the community members
