What are my responsibilities?

  • Manage end-to-end import and export customs clearance processes while ensuring compliance with Egyptian customs regulations and international trade requirements.
  • Coordinate with customers, customs brokers, freight forwarders, shipping lines, and government authorities to facilitate timely cargo clearance.
  • Prepare, review, and submit shipping and customs documentation, including Commercial Invoices, Bills of Lading (B/L), Packing Lists, Certificates of Origin, and import/export permits.
  • Monitor shipment and customs clearance status to ensure on-time delivery and minimize delays and additional costs.
  • Liaise with customs authorities to resolve clearance issues, inspections, and documentation discrepancies.
  • Manage approval processes with regulatory authorities such as NTRA and GOEIC, ensuring timely submission of required documentation and obtaining necessary permits and approvals.
  • Ensure accurate tariff classification (HS Codes), customs valuation, and duty calculations for imported materials.
  • Collaborate with Procurement, Warehouse, and Project teams to ensure the timely delivery of materials and equipment.
  • Track customs duty payments, import permits, and regulatory requirements to maintain full compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate customs and shipping records and support internal and external audits when required.
  • Identify opportunities to improve customs clearance processes, reduce lead times, and optimize logistics costs.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on shipment status, customs activities, and logistics performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Coordinate local transportation activities and ensure efficient movement of materials across project locations.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in import/export operations and customs clearance within a multinational or project-based environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Egyptian customs regulations, international trade procedures, and shipping documentation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience coordinating international shipments via sea and air freight, including preparation and management of shipping documentation.
  • Strong understanding/knowledge of the Egyptian Customs ACI (Advance Cargo Information) process and related requirements/documents.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, cross-functional, and multicultural environment.
