About the Role Business Leaders is hiring on behalf of a leading group specialized in Fragrance Manufacturing & Flavor Ingredients is looking for a Flavorist / Flavor Development Specialist to develop, modify, and optimize flavor profiles for food and beverage applications in line with customer briefs and market needs.
You will work in the flavor lab to create new flavors and versions of market references, conduct lab trials, and ensure that flavors perform well in real products and meet regulatory and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities· Develop, adjust, and optimize flavor formulations (liquid and powder) for various food and beverage applications (beverages, dairy, confectionery, bakery, savory, etc.) based on customer briefs.· Create “inspired” or equivalent flavor profiles that match existing market products when requested by customers.· Conduct lab trials and application tests, dosing flavors into real products and evaluating taste, aroma, stability, and overall sensory performance.· Perform sensory evaluations (tasting and smelling), document results, and compare samples against benchmarks and reference products.· Select and combine appropriate raw materials (aroma chemicals, essential oils, extracts, reaction flavors, etc.) to achieve target profiles and cost-in-use.· Ensure that all flavor formulations comply with relevant food safety and regulatory requirements · Maintain accurate, detailed records of all flavor formulas, trials, application tests, and sensory results in an organized system.· Collaborate with the applications, R&D, sales, and quality teams to translate customer needs into feasible flavor solutions · Monitor market trends, new flavor directions
Requirements· Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or a related scientific field.· Practical lab experience in flavors, food product development, or closely related areas (flavor houses, food & beverage manufacturers, or ingredient suppliers).· Strong sensory skills with a well-developed sense of taste and smell, and the ability to describe and remember complex flavor profiles.· Good understanding of flavor chemistry and behavior of flavoring components in different food matrices and processing conditions.· Confident working with lab equipment, accurate weighing, and formulation work; strong attention to detail and documentation.· Good computer skills, including Excel and basic documentation tools· Good command of English for reading technical sheets and communicating with internal stakeholders and some customers.
