Job Description: Storekeeper (Clothing & Apparel Factory) A Storekeeper in a garment manufacturing environment is responsible for the systematic receipt, storage, and issuance of materials ranging from raw fabrics and trims to finished goods. This role is critical for maintaining production flow and ensuring inventory accuracy.
Core Responsibilities Inventory Control: Maintain accurate records of all stock movements using manual ledgers or inventory management software. Material Receipt: Inspect incoming shipments of fabric rolls, threads, buttons, zippers, and packaging materials for quality and quantity against purchase orders. Storage Management: Organize the warehouse layout to ensure fabrics are stored away from moisture or sunlight and that "First-In, First-Out" (FIFO) principles are applied. Issuance to Production: Release raw materials to the cutting or sewing departments based on approved production orders or material requisition slips. Finished Goods Handling: Receive completed garments from the quality control (QC) department, ensuring they are properly labeled, bagged, and boxed for shipment. Stock Auditing: Conduct regular physical counts (cycle counting) to reconcile actual stock with system records and report any discrepancies or damages.
Technical Skills & Qualifications Fabric Knowledge: Ability to distinguish between different types of textiles (e.g., woven vs. knit) and identify common defects. Numerical Accuracy: Strong math skills for calculating yardage, meterage, and unit pieces. Documentation: Proficiency in maintaining Bin Cards, Goods Received Notes (GRN), and Store Requisition Notes. Safety Standards: Knowledge of warehouse safety protocols and proper lifting techniques for heavy fabric rolls.
