Company Description The Littlest Lamb is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of orphans and street children by breaking the cycle of poverty. Located near Cairo, the Littlest Lamb Orphanage provides a state-of-the-art facility to house and nurture up to 140 children. With a comprehensive program focused on education, recreation, and spiritual guidance, the organization aims to set a new standard for orphan care. The Littlest Lamb strives to create a supportive environment where children are empowered to become productive members of society.
Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role for an Assistant Chef at The Littlest Lamb Orphanage, located in Qesm El Obour. The Assistant Chef will support the Head Chef in daily food preparation and cooking for children and staff, ensuring meals are nutritious, varied, and cater to dietary needs. Responsibilities include food inventory management, maintaining cleanliness and safety standards in the kitchen, assisting in meal planning, and collaborating with staff to create a positive dining experience. The Assistant Chef will also help teach basic cooking skills to children as part of the orphanage’s life skills program.
Qualifications Experience in food preparation, cooking, and assisting in menu planning Knowledge of food safety and kitchen hygiene standards Ability to manage food inventory and minimize waste Teamwork and communication skills for collaboration with the kitchen staff Experience in child-centered environments is a plus Basic knowledge of nutrition and diverse culinary practices Willingness to mentor children in basic cooking and kitchen skills High school diploma or equivalent; culinary training or certification is a plus Fluency in Arabic and proficiency in English is advantageous
