Microbiology Section Head
You will lead the microbiology section at our Egypt site, managing laboratory operations and developing your team. You will ensure microbiological testing, monitoring and investigations meet regulatory and company quality standards. Responsibilities:
This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career. These responsibilities include some of the following:
- Lead and supervise daily microbiology laboratory activities, balancing workload and resources to meet production needs.
- Ensure microbiological monitoring, investigations of out-of-spec results, and trend analysis are completed and documented.
- Manage method validation, introduction of new laboratory techniques and qualification of instruments.
- Maintain up-to-date procedures and ensure compliance with cGMP, cGLP and local regulatory requirements.
- Support equipment maintenance, supply needs and implementation of modern microbiological practices.
- Coach and develop team members, and work with cross-functional partners to drive continuous improvement.
Why you?
This role is on-site in Egypt. Hybrid or remote working is not available due to laboratory and operational requirements.
Basic Qualification:
We are seeking professionals with the following required skills and qualifications to help us achieve our goals:
- Bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Microbiology, Biology or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant microbiology laboratory experience; experience in a regulated pharmaceutical or biotech environment preferred.
- Practical experience with microbiological testing, environmental monitoring, and investigation processes.
- Knowledge of GMP, GLP and health, safety and environment (EHS) requirements.
- Good communication and team leadership skills, with the ability to coach and prioritize tasks.
- Proficiency in English and basic computer skills for reporting and data analysis.
Preferred Qualification:
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
- Previous experience as a section head, team leader or supervisory role in a quality or microbiology lab.
- Experience with method validation and qualification of laboratory instruments.- Familiarity with regulatory inspections and responses to audit findings.
- Working knowledge of laboratory information management systems and data integrity principles.
- Experience implementing continuous improvement or lean laboratory practices.
- Postgraduate qualification or professional training in microbiology or quality systems.
