Role Overview
The Senior Data Engineer will play a key role in architecting and building the core data and backend systems that power the company’s platform. This role focuses on designing scalable backend services, cloud infrastructure, and data pipelines that support data-driven decision-making and enable the company’s mission to transform the brick-and-mortar retail experience.
Key Responsibilities
Platform & Backend DevelopmentDesign, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems using Node.js.
Ensure platform reliability, performance, and scalability under high traffic and complex workflows.
Infrastructure as CodeDefine and manage cloud infrastructure programmatically using infrastructure-as-code tools.
Build scalable, repeatable, and maintainable cloud environments.
Data Engineering & PipelinesDesign and implement scalable batch and event-driven data pipelines.
Handle data ingestion, transformation, and analysis to support platform optimization.
Build and manage data warehouses or lakehouses with a focus on accuracy, performance, and cost efficiency.
Cloud & Data SystemsCollaboration & Best PracticesCollaborate closely with product, data science, and front-end teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
Advocate for and implement best practices in code quality, testing, and deployment.
Troubleshoot complex technical issues and contribute to platform robustness.
Qualifications
Experience5+ years of experience in software development with a strong focus on backend engineering.
Proven experience building scalable data pipelines and data systems.
Hands-on experience with cloud-based architectures and data platforms.
SkillsProficiency in a modern object-oriented programming language, with the ability to ramp quickly on Node.js.
Strong experience with AWS services, including serverless and data-related tools.
Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools.
Strong understanding of data ingestion, transformation, and data warehousing concepts.
Experience with Databricks is preferred.
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
