1. Estimation and Cost Planning:
- Prepare accurate cost estimates, BOQs, and cost breakdowns for building projects (residential, commercial, industrial, etc.).
- Analyze project drawings, specifications, and tender documents to identify materials, quantities, and scope of work.
- Prepare cost comparisons and feasibility studies to support management decisions.
- Review and update cost databases and price lists regularly.
2. Tendering and Bidding:
- Prepare and review tender documentation, including pricing sheets, commercial proposals, and clarifications.
- Evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations to ensure accuracy and competitiveness.
- Participate in tender review meetings and provide input on pricing strategies.
- Ensure that all tender submissions comply with client and contractual requirements.
3. Post-Contract Administration:
- Prepare and review interim payment applications, variation orders, and final accounts.
- Monitor project costs and cash flow, ensuring alignment with approved budgets.
- Maintain and update cost tracking systems throughout the project duration.
- Support the project team in contractual and commercial matters.
4. Quantity Take-off and Verification:
- Perform detailed quantity take-offs from construction drawings and shop drawings.
- Verify contractor claims, site measurements, and as-built quantities.
- Prepare reconciliation reports between design, tender, and actual executed works.
5. Reporting and Coordination:
- Prepare cost reports, progress reports, and financial statements for management.
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure accurate quantity and cost tracking.
- Participate in site visits to validate progress and quantities.
- Support in project closeout and cost analysis.
Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Quantity Surveying.
- Minimum 5–8 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor in building construction projects.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and cost structures.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Excel (Advanced), and QS software (such as Candy, CostX, or Primavera).
- Familiarity with FIDIC or similar contract conditions.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Fluent in English (Arabic is a plus).
