Product Development Manager- SMEs

Job Purpose:

This role requires a deep understanding of SME customers' pain points, challenges, and aspirations. Conduct customer research, gather feedback, and engage in regular interactions with SME clients to validate product ideas and ensure that product development efforts are aligned with customer needs. Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure product success.


Key Accountabilities:

Product Development Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive product development strategy for SME banking, aligned with the overall business goals and market trends. Identify market gaps, customer needs, and competitive landscape to formulate strategies that drive product innovation and differentiation.


Market Research and Analysis: Conduct market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, customer preferences, and industry dynamics within the SME segment. Stay updated on regulatory changes and technological advancements that may impact SME banking products. Use market insights to drive product development decisions.


Product Portfolio Management: Manage the SME product portfolio, including existing products and new product launches. Assess the performance, profitability, and competitiveness of existing products and recommend enhancements or modifications as needed. Identify opportunities to expand the product range and develop new offerings to meet the specific needs of SME customers.


Customer-Centric Approach: Develop a deep understanding of SME customers' pain points, challenges, and aspirations. Conduct customer research, gather feedback, and engage in regular interactions with SME clients to validate product ideas and ensure that product development efforts are aligned with customer needs.


Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including technology, risk management, compliance, marketing, and sales, to drive product development initiatives. Work closely with these teams to ensure seamless integration of new products and alignment with regulatory requirements.


Product Design and Prototyping: Oversee the design and prototyping of new products and enhancements, considering customer experience, usability, and technological feasibility. Collaborate with internal teams or external vendors to develop robust product specifications and user requirements.


Competitive Analysis: Conduct competitive analysis to benchmark SME banking products against industry peers. Identify areas of differentiation and develop strategies to position the bank's products as market leaders. Stay updated on competitor product offerings and pricing strategies.


Performance Monitoring: Define key performance indicators (KPIs) for SME products and monitor their performance regularly. Analyze product metrics, customer feedback, and market trends to assess product success and identify areas for improvement. Prepare reports and presentations for senior management, highlighting product performance and recommendations for future enhancements.


Minimum Experience:

  • A process focused individual with minimum 8-15 years of experience in retail banking as well as corporate banking
