To collaborate with MSF medical staff on the integration of psychiatric treatment with basic healthcare services in order to ensure the treatment of patients suffering from severe and common psychiatric disorders |

- Provide treatment for patients suffering from severe and common psychiatric disorders with specific attention to the cultural context.
- Provide training and supervision to national and international medical staff (doctors and nurses) on diagnosis and treatment of severe and common mental health disorders according to MSF guidelines
- Participate as a member of the mental health team when present and offer supervision and support to national psychologists and counsellors
- Ensure that guidelines and psychotropic medications from MSF standard drug list are available in the project
- Ensure that proper information on treatment and follow up are collected in order to monitor the provision of care.
- Establish collaboration/communication with medical specialties in the project in order to achieve a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care

- MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities
|
The MSF project in Cairo is currently focusing on migrants, refugees and asylum seekers. The project is running an outpatient clinic that specializes in Sexual and reproductive health, Mental health and orthopedic and rehabilitation services, and offers a comprehensive package of care. This comprehensive package of care includes medical care, psychological care, social support (referrals) and physiotherapy. Each patient has an individualized treatment plan implemented by a inter-disciplinary team (IDT). This project is not a typical MSF project (with ready-to-use tools) and requires a lot of flexibility, open-mindedness and capacity to adapt. This project focuses on migrants and refugees; therefore, a strong cultural sensitivity is required. - Ensure proper evaluation of Mental Health needs to all patients, establishing a diagnosis and a plan of treatment
- Refer the ER patients, internally or extremally, accordingly to the outcome of the evaluation
- Open and fill the Mental Health files of each new patient
- Ensure joint session when needed, especially for ER patients
• Provide follow-up consultations to beneficiaries in need for on-going specialized Mental Health support - Ensure that proper information on treatment and follow up as well as changes in treatment are collected in order to monitor the provision of care.
- Follow all MSF protocol on documenting all medical cases, making sure all appropriate documents are filled up correctly; follow and be responsible for the file’s closure
- Ensure proper handling of patient information and confidentiality
- Facilitate psychiatric hospitalization if risk to others and self has been assessed and give feedback on the quality of these services.
- Provide support to the case management team as follow-up for the psychiatric patients referred to external health care facilities.
- To be the link between psychiatric hospital and MSF clinic, in order to create continuity of care between admission and out-patient care
- Participate and constructively contribute to case discussions in multi-disciplinary team meetings
- Providing the psychiatric component (medication and counselling) of MH follow-ups provided by the MH team, in partnership with, the MHP Counsellors and the Social Workers
- Respect the code of deontology/conduct of Mental Health caregiver.
