Projects Accountant

Contract and Order Review:

  • Review contracts and supply orders submitted by the project department to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies.
  • Serve as a liaison between the project team and the finance department.

Invoice and Payment Processing:

  • Review contractor statements and supplier invoices submitted by the project department, ensuring proper documentation and procedures are followed.
  • Ensure timely processing and approval of payments to contractors and suppliers in accordance with agreed terms.

Cash Flow Monitoring:

  • Monitor and review cash advances disbursed to project sites, ensuring they are used in accordance with company policies and project requirements.
  • Monitor project costs and variances, identifying issues and recommending corrective actions.
  • Prepare accurate and timely project financial reports and financial analyses, including revenue, expenses, and profitability to support project decision-making.

Bank Guarantees Management:

  • Review project-related bank guarantees and work closely with the Treasurer to ensure timely renewals and compliance.

Inventory Management: 

  • Review project inventory balances monthly in coordination with storekeepers, ensuring adherence to the inventory management process.

Record Keeping:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all project-related documents, including contracts, supply orders, and statements.

Project Account Closure:

  • Compare project totals against estimated budgets, identify any variances, and provide detailed reports on discrepancies and their causes.

  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial audits related to projects

Skills

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

Additional certifications in Public Accountant (CPA) or Management Accountant (CMA) are preferred.

Experience:

Minimum of 3 years of experience in project accounting or financial management

Technical Skills:

Strong proficiency in accounting software, ERP systems, and financial modeling tools.

Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for creating financial models, performing data analysis, and managing large datasets.

Familiarity with Excel functions such as VLOOKUP, PivotTables, and complex formulas.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with project managers, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders.

Ability to present financial information clearly and concisely.

·  Time Management:

Strong ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.

Efficient in handling multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously.

· Problem-Solving:

Proactive in identifying potential financial issues within projects and developing solutions.

Ability to troubleshoot and resolve accounting discrepancies or inefficiencies.

· Team Collaboration:

Ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams, including finance, procurement, and project management departments.
