Job Summary

Auto Truck Co. is looking for a Production Engineer – Steel Workshop to supervise and improve all metal fabrication and workshop operations.

The role includes steel fabrication, cutting, drilling, welding, bending, forming, hydraulic press operations, tooling, jigs, fixtures, and daily workshop production.

The ideal candidate should have strong practical shop-floor experience and be able to manage operators, technicians, machines, and production targets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise daily steel workshop production activities.

  • Follow up production plans and ensure required quantities are achieved on time.

  • Supervise:

    • Steel fabrication

    • Cutting

    • Drilling

    • Welding

    • Bending

    • Metal forming

    • Hydraulic press operations

  • Ensure correct machine setup before starting production.

  • Follow up dies, tools, jigs, and fixtures used in production.

  • Check dimensions, hole locations, alignment, and fabrication accuracy.

  • Ensure correct material and process sequence are used.

  • Monitor welding quality and fit-up.

  • Solve production and workshop problems.

  • Reduce scrap, rework, and machine downtime.

  • Improve cycle time and workshop productivity.

  • Coordinate with Quality Control regarding dimensional and quality requirements.

  • Coordinate with Maintenance regarding machine, press, and equipment problems.

  • Train and guide operators and technicians.

  • Monitor material consumption and minimize waste.

  • Prepare daily and weekly production reports.

  • Monitor production KPIs, output, rejection, scrap, and downtime.

  • Ensure safety procedures are followed in the workshop.

Requirements

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.

  • 2–5 years of experience in metal fabrication or production.

  • Strong practical experience in a steel or fabrication workshop.

  • Good knowledge of hydraulic press operations.

  • Good knowledge of welding and metal forming.

  • Ability to read engineering drawings.

  • Good knowledge of dimensions, tolerances, and measuring tools.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to supervise operators and technicians.

  • Good communication and reporting skills.
