Role Summary The Specification Sales Engineer drives long-term commercial growth by establishing, defending, and securing product specifications across architectural, design, and engineering consultancy firms. This role requires frequent face-to-face field visits, technical presentations, and relationship-building to ensure company products, exact product codes, and brand names are locked into project Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and Approved Vendor Lists (AVLs). Key Responsibilities Consultant & Designer Engagement Conduct routine field visits and product presentations to architects, interior designers, structural engineers, and technical consultants. Organize and deliver formal Lunch & Learn sessions, technical seminars, and mock-up demonstrations to showcase product performance and technical advantages. Map and build long-term working relationships with key decision-makers, specifiers, and material managers across targeted design and consultancy firms. Specification Lock & BOQ Compliance Assist consultants in writing architectural and technical performance specifications that favor the company’s product line. Ensure company brand names, exact product codes, and technical attributes are accurately listed in project BOQs, tender documents, and schedules. Review project tender documents, drawings, and submittals to identify specification risks or unauthorized product substitutions by contractors. Vendor List Approvals (AVL) Drive the full registration process to get company products listed on Approved Vendor Lists (AVL) and Approved Manufacturer Lists (AML) with top developers, government authorities, and consultancy firms. Prepare, submit, and track technical pre-qualification documentation, test reports, certificates, and compliance submittal packages. Pipeline Management & Cross-Functional Support Track targeted projects through all design phases (schematic, detailed design, tender, and procurement) to safeguard specifications until contract award. Partner with the contractor sales team to hand over specified projects once main contractors and subcontractors are appointed. Gather market intelligence on competitor activities, upcoming projects, and changing local regulatory codes. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Activity Metrics: Weekly and monthly target for face-to-face visits, technical presentations, and consultant meetings. Specification Volume: Total number and monetary value of projects specified in design stages. BOQ Lock-In Rate: Percentage of specified projects where product code and brand name appear unchanged in final tender BOQs. Vendor List Additions: Number of successful AVL/AML registrations completed per quarter. Candidate Qualifications & Skills Education: Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related technical discipline. Experience: 3–5+ years of proven experience in specification sales, building materials, or technical business development targeting architects and consultants. Technical Proficiency: Ability to read architectural plans, technical drawings, and spec documents; knowledge of BIM/CAD tools is a plus.
