We are seeking a proactive and technically driven Lifting Engineer to support and oversee lifting operations in Idku, Egypt. The role is critical in ensuring all lifting activities are planned, approved, and executed safely in full compliance with legal requirements, international standards, OEM instructions, and OMS requirements.
Your Challenge Operational & Risk Management Develop, review, and approve lifting plans and associated risk assessments in line with legislation, applicable codes, and OMS requirements. Ensure all lifting operations are executed safely and strictly in accordance with approved lifting plans. Verify that lifting equipment is operated within safe working limits and in compliance with OEM operating instructions. Confirm correct categorization, technical accuracy, and completeness of lifting plans, including complex and critical lifts. Provide technical guidance and advice to relevant stakeholders on lifting plan preparation. Participate in and deliver toolbox talks related to lifting activities. Responsible for planning and coordinating the daily mobilisation of lifting equipment, assigning suitably qualified personnel for each lifting operation in accordance with approved lifting plans, stakeholder requirements, and operational priorities. Ensures effective control of lifting gears through regular updates to the rigging loft registry on Medserv’s SAI360 system, including condition status, certification validity, and the quarantine of rejected or defective lifting equipment. Ensures continuous monitoring of lifting equipment condition and certification compliance, identifies and reports any indications of damage or potential failure, and verifies that preventive maintenance is executed at prescribed intervals by approved and authorized service centres. Compliance & Safety Oversight Ensure all personnel involved in lifting operations are adequately trained, competent, and properly supervised based on lift categorisation. Monitor lifting activities on-site to ensure continuous compliance with approved procedures and safety requirements. Follow up inspection and certification compliance for lifting equipment and gears.
Who Are You Experience & Education Bachelor’s degree in engineering. Minimum of 4 years’ experience in lifting planning, lifting operations, and rigging. Proven hands-on and theoretical expertise in all categories of lifting operations, with strong exposure to complicated and critical lifts. Prior experience within the Oil & Gas industry is highly preferred. Essential Skills & Attributes LEEA Appointed Person / Lifting Certification or equivalent. LEEA Foundation certification or LOLER certification is an advantage. Strong knowledge of international lifting standards, risk assessment methodologies, and regulatory compliance. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in both English and Arabic. High attention to detail, strong safety mindset, and the ability to work effectively under operational pressure.
Location & Travel Based on-site in Idku, Egypt. Occasional site visits and coordination with contractors and operations teams may be required.
