Job Summary:
A Quantity Surveyor - Site is responsible for managing all costs related to building and civil engineering projects on-site, from initial calculations to final figures specifically for Hotel/Resorts projects. They aim to minimize the costs of a project and enhance value for money while achieving the required standards and quality.
Responsibilities:
- Cost Management: Conduct feasibility studies to estimate materials, time, and labor costs. Prepare, negotiate, and analyze costs for tenders and contracts.
- Contract Management: Prepare contract documents, including bills of quantities. Negotiate contracts and pricing with contractors and suppliers.
- Project Coordination: Coordinate work efforts, track changes to designs, and adjust budget projections accordingly.
- Financial Reporting: Monitor expenditures, value completed work, and arrange for payments. Report on financial status and make forecasts for project completion.
- Risk Management: Identify, analyze, and develop responses to commercial risks. Provide advice on contractual claims and disputes.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company procedures.
- Review Procedures: Review contractor’s procedures for measurement of works, monthly payment requests, and verify the quantities quoted and unit rates applied.
- Variation Orders: Process variation orders (VO) specifically for hotel projects.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 7 years’ experience in the quantity surveying (QS) field, with extensive experience in reviewing contractor’s procedures, monthly payment requests, and VO processing for hotel projects.
- Skills: Excellent negotiation skills, strong analytical and critical thinking abilities, adept in MS Office and Quantity Surveying software, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Certifications: Membership or accreditation from recognized professional bodies such as the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).
