Role Purpose:
The Fixed Connectivity market for wide area networks is undergoing a major transition as digital transformation, accelerating cloud adoption, hybrid working, and AI are driving new Enterprise network architectures.
Enterprise is migrating from Private IP-VPNs to new cloud managed software defined WAN and networking products. Traditional transport products such as Business Internet, Carrier Ethernet and MPLS are now being used to underpin these SD-WANs &/or to connect locations to private and public cloud and SaaS services. As applications and workloads move to the cloud, direct Cloud Connects and Software Defined Cloud Interconnect products offer low latency, agile, secure connectivity to the Cloud that is becoming increasingly quicker to deploy with network and API automation.
Demand for larger bandwidths, standardisation and evolving OTT and carrier business requirements are also driving new demands for carrier connectivity to connect end users, data centres, edge and cloud locations.
As a Global Product Manager working on Underlay Transport products, you will lead and provide E2E global product lifecycle management for one or more of our Global Products including Global IP-VPN. within a product family or line. Work with Local product managers, solution, commercial and pre-sales teams, to ensure the global products are fully relevant and integrated into Vodafone Business markets and to maintain visibility of market priorities. The role holder will have E2E accountability for their product(s) acting in the capacity as the ‘mini-CEO’ on a global scale.
Key accountabilities and decision ownership:
Help define, research and drive product plans (18-24 months) and strategy (~3-year horizon) in line with the product line, family and portfolio vision and objectives, Vodafone Business and commercial priorities.

Accountability for the product commercial performance, business case and P&L
• Capture and translate customer needs into clear product capabilities and features or to optimise existing products
• Focus on ‘total product design’ to ensure all end-to-end requirements are captured including quality, safety, regulatory and sustainability
• Create, maintain and drive execution of global product roadmap, ensuring alignment with Local Product Managers and channels. Ensuring local market and channel requirements are captured and integration, launch and go-to-market resources and budgets are planned and ring-fenced
• Accountable for your Global Product(s) Roadmap
• Oversee the agile product development phase to ensure necessary governance, funding and key deliverables are achieved on time and to quality, working with their respective Technology Product Owners
• Acts as ‘chief publicist’ for their product to ensure all launch requirements are consistent, scalable and aligned through relevant teams (incl. marketing, GTM, commercial, local product managers, sales etc.).
• Identify/work with product technology partners and determine how they will support the creation of new products
• Accountable for product economic and unit cost, working with commercial and finance teams
• Establishing suitable product differentiation, value-add and execution strategies to underpin the product’s success
• Manage all in-life and end-of-life requirements to optimise global product performance, capability and
commercials, initiating resolving actions where necessary
• Work within Scaled Agile (SAFe) framework
Core competencies, knowledge and experience:
• Knowledge of IP-VPN, Internet and Cloud Connectivity products sold to Enterprise, Indirect Partners &/or Carrier customers
• Knowledge of Metro Ethernet Forum, TMF and other telecoms networking standards bodies (preferred)
• Requires particular focus on customers at a global level whilst appreciating any local nuances. Able to manage and understand global customer trends.
• Natural ability to lead and influence on behalf of their product on a global scale.
• Senior stakeholder management.
• Requires ability to manage P&L and commercials globally for their product.
• Emphasis on resolving conflicting requirements between local markets and with wider stakeholders
• Engages regularly with local OpCos, technology, legal, regulatory, commercial. GTM/Marketing teams.
