Job Title: Accounting Manager
Department: Finance Department
Reporting to: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Job Purpose
The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department, including maintaining the general ledger, preparing financial reports, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations, and supervising accounting staff. The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and present accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP or IFRS.
- Oversee month-end and year-end close processes.
- Ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met.
- Analyze financial data and provide insights to management.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of all ledger entries.
- Review and approve journal entries.
- Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and financial forecasts.
- Monitor and report on budget variances.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures.
- Coordinate and support internal and external audits.
- Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and regulations.
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff.
- Provide training and development opportunities for team members.
- Conduct performance evaluations and manage team workloads.
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments.
- Manage the collection of outstanding accounts receivable.
- Monitor cash flow and ensure adequate liquidity.
- Manage banking relationships and oversee treasury functions.
- Implement and maintain accounting systems and software.
- Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or CMA certification preferred.Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.Strong knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, and other accounting standards.Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Strong attention to detail and accuracy.Effective communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.High level of integrity and ethical standards.
