Job Summary:The Mechanical Draftsman is responsible for creating accurate 2D and 3D technical drawings and models for mechanical components, systems, and machinery. This role ensures designs meet project specifications, industry standards, and manufacturing requirements. Working closely with engineers and production teams, the draftsman plays a vital role in transforming conceptual ideas into executable designs.
Key Responsibilities:1 Drafting and Design:Create detailed mechanical drawings and schematics using CAD software. Prepare 2D layouts and 3D models for components, assemblies, and systems. Update existing drawings to incorporate revisions or improvements.2 Collaboration:Work with engineers to understand project requirements and technical details. Coordinate with production teams to ensure designs are manufacturable.3 Documentation:Maintain organized files of drawings, revisions, and project documentation. Prepare part lists, material specifications, and technical documentation.4 Standards and Compliance:Ensure designs adhere to industry standards. Implement best practices in drafting and design.5 Problem-Solving:Identify potential design issues and propose solutions. Optimize designs for cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
Qualifications:Education:Bachelor's in industrial engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Drafting, or a related field. Experience:At least 2 years of experience in mechanical drafting or related roles. Technical Skills:Proficiency in CAD software such as Auto CAD and Solid Works. Basic understanding of mechanical systems and manufacturing processes. Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Soft Skills:Attention to detail and accuracy. Strong teamwork and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience in designing for industries such as manufacturing, automotive, or industrial equipment. Familiarity with advanced CAD tools or simulation software.
