JOB PURPOSE
Ensure executing optimized telecommunication engineering system for rail projects fully integrated andcomplying with industry standards and contractual obligations.
A Senior Communications Engineer with strong technical capabilities and relevant experience to support the review, coordination, and verification of railway communications and ICT systems design.
Key Responsibilities
The Senior Communications Engineer shall support the Technical Office Manager in the review and assessment of communications and ICT design submissions and shall be responsible for:
Reviewing communication system designs for compliance with project requirements, applicable standards, operational requirements, and best engineering practices. Reviewing and commenting on system architecture diagrams, network topology drawings, design reports, interface documents, technical specifications, and design calculations. Verifying the integration of GSM-R systems with the railway communication backbone, operational control systems, signaling systems, and other interfacing disciplines. Reviewing the design of backbone telecommunications networks, including fiber optic infrastructure, IP/MPLS networks, transmission systems, network redundancy, and resilience requirements. Reviewing Wi-Fi and wireless communication systems to ensure adequate coverage, capacity, availability, security, and operational performance. Reviewing telephone and voice communication systems, including VoIP, PBX, emergency telephones, operational telephony, and dispatch communication systems. Identifying design risks, technical inconsistencies, and interface issues and proposing suitable corrective actions. Supporting multidisciplinary coordination activities and the resolution of interface issues with signaling, SCADA, BMS, PSD, CCTV, ACS, Fire Alarm Systems, OCC systems, and other railway subsystems. Participating in technical workshops, design review meetings, and stakeholder coordination meetings.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Communications Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.7 to 10 years of relevant experience in telecommunications, ICT, or railway communications systems. Minimum 3 years of experience in railway, metro, transportation, airport, or other mission-critical infrastructure projects. Demonstrated experience in design review, technical coordination, and interface management of communication systems. Experience supporting cybersecurity reviews for railway communication and ICT systems, ensuring cybersecurity requirements are properly incorporated throughout the design process.
