Job Details

The Data and Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for organizing, collecting, processing, and storing data from various sources, transforming raw, unstructured data into formats usable for analysis. This includes managing databases, servers, and large-scale processing systems. Additionally, the role involves the design, planning, management, maintenance, and support of an organization's cloud computing environment, including application support on Schlumberger-supported clouds.

Key responsibilities include managing cloud environments in accordance with company security guidelines, acting as a focal point for gathering system requirements from application architects and owners to ensure seamless data transformation and loading across cloud vendors like AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform. The role involves data loading, migration, and retrieval, and advising customers on data governance, policies, roles, and data flow.

The engineer will assemble large, complex data sets meeting business requirements, perform data mapping and quality control from multiple sources, and assess company data and infrastructure environments with improvement recommendations. Collaboration with stakeholders including data, design, product, and executive teams on data-related technical issues is essential.

Proficiency in using API knowledge to design RESTful services and integrate them with existing data providers using JSON or XML is required. Maintaining existing company databases with a working knowledge of SQL and NoSQL, and related data stores like Postgres is also a key duty. Debugging technical issues within complex stacks involving virtualization, containers, and microservices is expected.

The role involves collaborating with engineering teams to ensure digital applications run correctly, performantly, and efficiently on cloud infrastructure, including deployment using container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes. Experience with OpenStack, Linux/UNIX, Rackspace, Docker, and Microsoft Azure is beneficial. A working knowledge of web services, APIs, REST, and RPC is necessary.

Responsibilities extend to handling incoming incidents, change requests, and problems as first-line support. The engineer will operate, design, develop, test, and implement infrastructure systems and hardware with automation in mind. Project value estimation, development plan evaluation from an infrastructure perspective, and maintaining close liaison with the customer are also part of the role.

Accurate and up-to-date documentation of all activities is required. Participation in out-of-office on-call rotation may be necessary. The role includes installing and configuring IOT Agora solutions, including infrastructure, network setup, and SDK implementation. Maintaining and supporting existing on-premises applications regarding licensing, installation, and configuration is also a responsibility.

Experience working with OSDU community code and Schlumberger Enterprise Data Management (EDM) workflows is expected.
