Roles & Responsibilities
The Hitachi Rail SRS RAMS Function ensures proper implementation of the Hitachi Rail SRS RAMS Policy in accordance with company and industry specific standards and best practices, provides support to enable SRS to execute its business, provides governance and guarantees segregation of duties with the aim of ensuring the safety of the solutions developed and deployed by Hitachi Rail SRS and compliance to safety principles, industry specific standards and best practices for the development and deployment of safety-critical systems.
The Country RAMS Manager is responsible for leading, managing, and ensuring the effective implementation of Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Safety (RAMS) activities across all projects within the country. The role ensures compliance with international and local standards, supports project teams, manages client interfaces for RAMS topics, and drives the strategic development of RAMS capabilities nationally. This position requires strong leadership, deep technical knowledge, and the ability to collaborate with clients, authorities, consultants, and internal engineering teams.
Main Responsibilities
A. Leadership & Management
- Lead the RAMS function within the country, managing a team of RAMS engineers and specialists.
- Allocate RAMS resources to projects based on scope, complexity, and priorities.
- Develop competency, mentoring, and training plans for the RAMS team.
- Represent the RAMS function in internal management meetings and strategic decision-making.
- Take leading role in RAMS talent acquisition, development and retention
B. Project Delivery
- Ensure all RAMS deliverables are produced on time, within budget, and in compliance with project requirements.
- Oversee the preparation of RAMS documentation including:
- Conduct internal reviews and quality checks of RAMS deliverables before submission.
- Ensure integration of RAMS requirements across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
C. Compliance & Standards
- Ensure adherence to relevant standards such as EN 50126, EN 50128, EN 50129, and other local standards
- Ensure compliance with national regulatory requirements and safety authorities.
- Lead the preparation and presentation of Safety Cases to clients, operators, and regulators.
D. Stakeholder & Client Management
- Act as the main RAMS point of contact for clients, consultants, and regulatory authorities within the country.
- Participate in design reviews, progress meetings, tender evaluations, and technical workshops.
- Manage client expectations and ensure clear communication of RAMS risks, requirements, and progress.
E. Business Development
- Provide or Facilitates RAMS inputs for bids, proposals, and tenders.
- Support estimation of RAMS workload, cost, and resource planning for new business.
- Promote RAMS capability and contribute to strengthening the company s technical reputation locally.
F. Governance & Continuous Improvement
- Establish country-level RAMS processes, templates, and best practices aligned with global standards.
- Drive lessons learned, innovation, and digital transformation in RAMS analysis.
- Ensure proper documentation, traceability, and configuration control of RAMS data.
Desired Candidate Profile
Qualifications & Skills Requirements
Mandatory
- Bachelor or Master degree in engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, Industrial, or similar).
- Minimum 10 12+ years RAMS experience, preferably in safety-critical industries (Rail/Metro/Transportation/Energy/Aerospace/Industrial Automation).
- Strong knowledge of RAMS standards such as EN 50126, EN 50128, EN 50129, IEC 61508.
- Experience preparing Safety Cases and hazard analysis.
- Good hold of Egyptian Arabic, and English
- Good interpersonal skills
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication (verbal & written).
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
- High level of ownership, accountability, and stakeholder management.
Preferred
- Certification in Functional Safety (T V or equivalent).
- Experience managing teams or leading cross-functional engineering activities.
- Experience interfacing with safety authorities and client representatives.
