Job Description: Nursery English Teacher Job Summary We are looking for a passionate, patient, and energetic Nursery English Teacher to join our team at Fairytales Nursery. The ideal candidate will be responsible for introducing the English language through interactive, play-based activities, storytelling, and phonics, while ensuring the emotional and physical well-being of the children in alignment with positive discipline principles. Key Responsibilities1. Educational & Classroom Delivery• Language & Phonics: Introduce and build early reading and speaking confidence using interactive tools like Jolly Phonics to help children recognise letter sounds and blend them into words.• Activity-Based Learning: Design and execute fun, hands-on activities that naturally integrate English, such as Cooking sessions (e.g., fruit salad, sandwich making) and simple Science experiments (e.g., sink and float, colour mixing).• Skill Development: Plan sessions targeting both Gross Motor Skills (body control and coordination) and Fine Motor Skills (using activities like threading beads, cutting playdough, and tracing to improve pencil grip and finger strength).• Daily Routine Management: Follow the daily expectations structure of Fairytales Nursery:• Before Class: Prepare all educational materials, organise activities, and ensure the classroom is clean and safe.• During Class: Actively engage children, encourage full participation, and maintain positive communication.• After Class: Organise the classroom, report any incidents, and write down necessary notes.2. Classroom Management & Positive Discipline• Positive Language: Apply the nursery's Language Guide strictly (e.g., saying "Use your quiet voice" instead of "Stop shouting", or "Walking feet please" instead of "Don't run").• Behavioral Tools: Effectively utilise positive reinforcement tools such as sticker charts, calm corners, and reward systems.• Crisis & Tantrum Handling: Follow established protocols for behavioral challenges:• Handle resistance (when a child says "No!") by staying calm, validating feelings, and offering choices.• Manage physical aggression (hitting/biting) by separating children immediately, prioritizing the hurt child, and implementing natural consequences without forcing an apology.• Support emotional releases (crying for no apparent reason) by checking physical needs first and offering a comforting, unhurried presence.• Smooth Transitions: Use creative and engaging prompts to transition between activities smoothly (e.g., "We clean up in 2 minutes", or "Sit on your spot like a pancake").3. Communication & Administration• Parent Communication: Maintain healthy, positive relationships with parents; communicate important notes and daily updates regarding their child's progress or behavior.• End-of-Day Checklist: Complete daily operational tasks including sanitising tables/toys, restocking essential supplies, and writing quick positive observations for the children.• Supervision: Maintain 100% constant supervision of children at all times to ensure absolute safety. Job Requirements & Qualifications• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education, English Literature, Early Childhood Development, or a related field.• Experience: Proven experience working as an English Teacher or Educator in a nursery, preschool, or kindergarten setting.• Language Skills: Near-native or fluent English proficiency (spoken and written) with a clear and accurate accent suitable for young children.• Knowledge: Deep understanding of early childhood milestones, phonics methodologies (specifically Jolly Phonics), and fine/gross motor skill development.• Soft Skills:• Exceptional patience, empathy, and emotional resilience.• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to connect with both toddlers and parents.• Creativity in storytelling, singing, and turning everyday moments into learning opportunities.• Ability to maintain a calm demeanor under pressure or during children's tantrums.
