Job Purpose We are seeking an experienced SAP PP/QM Consultant to join our ERP Applications team. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing, configuring, and supporting the SAP Production Planning (PP) and Quality Management (QM) modules, ensuring optimal manufacturing execution, production scheduling, and quality assurance processes across the organization. This role demands deep functional expertise in both modules, strong cross-functional integration knowledge, and the ability to work closely with production, planning, and quality teams to deliver robust SAP solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Production Planning – Master Data (PP-MD) Configure and maintain core PP master data: Material Master (MRP views), Bills of Materials (BOM), Work Centers, Routings, and Production Versions Set up BOM usage, BOM categories (simple, variant, multiple), and BOM explosion for MRP and production orders Define work center capacities, formulas, and scheduling parameters for finite and infinite scheduling Maintain routing operations, control keys, standard values, and production resource tools (PRT) Material Requirements Planning (PP-MRP) Configure MRP types, lot-sizing procedures, planning horizons, and safety stock strategies Manage MRP planning runs (regenerative, net change, and net change in planning horizon) and exception message processing Set up demand management, including Planned Independent Requirements (PIR) and Customer Independent Requirements (CIR) Configure make-to-stock (MTS) and make-to-order (MTO) planning strategies and schedule line categories
Production Orders & Shop Floor Control (PP-SFC) Configure production order types, order profiles, scheduling parameters, and availability checks Set up goods movements for production: goods issue (GI) for components and goods receipt (GR) for finished goods Manage backflushing, milestone confirmations, partial confirmations, and time ticket processing Configure production order settlement, variance calculation, and WIP (Work-In-Progress) accounting
Repetitive Manufacturing & Process Industries Configure repetitive manufacturing profiles, rate-based planning, and production list processing Set up run schedule headers, planning table configuration, and backflushing for repetitive scenarios Configure process orders, master recipes, resources, and process instructions for process industry scenarios (PI/PO) Support integration with SAP PM (Plant Maintenance) for equipment and functional location assignments
Capacity Planning & Scheduling Configure capacity planning profiles, capacity categories, and available capacity definitions Set up capacity leveling using CM21/CM22 and forward/backward scheduling for production orders Define scheduling margins, float times, and in-house production times for accurate delivery date calculation Support Advanced Planning integration (SAP APO/IBP) for demand-driven production scheduling if applicable
Quality Management – Inspection Planning (QM-PT) Configure quality inspection types, inspection lots, and sampling procedures for incoming, in-process, and final inspections Set up master inspection characteristics (MIC), inspection methods, and inspection catalogs (code groups and codes) Create and maintain inspection plans, control charts, and dynamic modification rules for sampling Configure quality info records for vendors and customers to trigger automatic quality inspections
Quality Notifications & Non-Conformance (QM-QN) Configure quality notifications for defect recording, complaints, and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) Set up notification types, task codes, partner functions, and workflow for quality issue resolution Manage usage decision processing, stock postings (unrestricted, blocked, scrap), and lot disposition Configure quality certificates (QM-CA) for customer and vendor certificate management
Statistical Process Control & Quality Reporting Configure control charts (X-bar, R, S, p, np charts) and SPC parameters for process monitoring Set up quality scores, defect recording, and vendor quality evaluation integration with MMDevelop quality management information system (QMIS) reports and KPI dashboards for production quality Support audit management and compliance reporting aligned with ISO 9001 / GMP standards
Variant Configuration (VC) Expertise Proven hands-on experience in SAP Variant Configuration (VC) is strictly required. Must be proficient in setting up characteristics, classes, configuration profiles, object dependencies, super BOMs, and super routings.
Implementation & Project Delivery Lead or participate in full-cycle SAP PP/QM implementations: blueprinting, configuration, testing, go-live, and hypercare support Prepare functional specifications for custom developments, user exits, BAdIs, and RICEF objects Execute unit testing, system integration testing (SIT), and user acceptance testing (UAT) Develop and deliver end-user training programs and documentation for production and quality teams
Support, Operations & Integration Provide SAP PP/QM production support and resolve incidents within SLAPerform month-end closing activities: order settlement, variance analysis, and WIP calculation Manage cross-module integration: PP-MM (procurement triggers), PP-FI/CO (cost postings), PP-SD (sales orders to production), and PP-QM (inspection lots) Coordinate with BASIS for transports, system upgrades, and SAP S/4HANA migration activities
Security & Authorizations Lead Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for SAP roles and authorizations. Must possess the expertise to design, audit, and architect complex authorization concepts, and actively guide the Basis team in implementing and maintaining the security matrix.
Qualifications & Requirements Education Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field SAP Certified Application Associate – SAP S/4HANA Manufacturing or Production Planning is strongly preferred SAP Certified Associate in Quality Management is an additional advantage Lean Six Sigma, CPIM (APICS), or equivalent manufacturing/quality certification is a plus
Experience5 to 7 years of hands-on SAP PP and QM functional consulting experience Minimum 5 full end-to-end SAP implementation project cycles covering PP and/or QM modules Strong experience with SAP ECC 6.0 and/or SAP S/4HANA Manufacturing (on-premise or cloud) Experience with Discrete Manufacturing, Process Manufacturing, or Repetitive Manufacturing scenarios Exposure to SAP APO / IBP, MES integration, or SAP Digital Manufacturing Cloud is an advantage Industry background in precast, contracting, construction, or heavy manufacturing preferred
Technical Skills Deep configuration expertise across: BOM, Routing, Work Centers, MRP, Production Orders, SFC, Repetitive Manufacturing, Inspection Planning, Quality Notifications, and SPCStrong knowledge of PP-CO integration: production order costing, WIP, variance settlement, and product cost collectors Experience with batch management, batch classification, and batch where-used reporting Ability to write and review functional specifications for ABAP developments, BAdIs, and user exits Experience with SAP Solution Manager (Sol Man) or equivalent for project documentation and ITSMFamiliarity with SAP Fiori apps for production supervisor, shop floor, and quality cockpit Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for data migration, mass uploads, and LSMW/BAPI tools
