Job Summary
The Head of Finance is responsible for leading the overall financial strategy, planning, reporting, and
control of the organization. The role ensures financial stability, funding strategies, regulatory compliance,
strong internal controls, and effective cash flow management while supporting executive decision-making
and business growth. The Head of Finance oversees all accounting, treasury, budgeting, taxation, and
financial reporting functions and serves as a strategic advisor to senior management.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and implement the company’s financial strategy in alignment with overall business
objectives and provide strategic financial guidance to the concerned parties. - Lead long-term financial planning, investment analysis, and capital allocation decisions.
Develop and implement funding strategies to support the company’s operational and
expansion plans. - Identify appropriate financing options including bank facilities, loans, trade finance
instruments, and other funding sources. - Lead negotiations with banks and financial institutions regarding credit facilities, loan
agreements, and financing terms. - Prepare financial models, feasibility studies, and investment analyses to support funding
requests and capital projects. - Manage relationships with banks, financial institutions, and potential investors.
2. Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
- Oversee annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling processes.
- Monitor financial performance against budgets and provide variance analysis and corrective
recommendations. - Deliver timely financial insights and reports to support strategic decision-making.
- Establish and track key financial KPIs.
3. Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Oversee all accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, cost
accounting, and inventory. - Ensure timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards (IFRS / GAAP) and regulatory
requirements. - Review and approve financial reports prior to executive and Board submission.
4. Treasury & Cash Flow Management
- Oversee treasury operations, including cash flow planning, liquidity management, banking
relationships and ensure effective working capital management. - Manage funding arrangements, credit facilities, and financial risk exposure.
- Monitor foreign exchange and financial market risks where applicable.
5. Taxation & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure accurate and timely submission of all tax returns (VAT, income tax, withholding tax, etc.).
- Oversee tax planning strategies and ensure compliance with local laws and regulations.
- Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory authorities.
6. Internal Controls & Risk Management
- Establish and maintain strong internal control systems to safeguard company assets.
- Ensure proper governance, financial policies, and procedures are implemented and followed.
- Lead audit processes and address audit findings effectively.
7. ERP & Financial Systems Oversight
- Oversee finance-related ERP systems and ensure accurate financial data mapping and reporting
structures. - Promote automation and digital transformation within the finance function.
8. Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team to ensure high performance and accountability.
Qualifications & RequirementsEducationBachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field (CPA, CMA, or ACCA preferred).Experience15+ years of progressive experience in finance, including senior leadership roles.Experience in agriculture, FMCG, or multi-entity organizations is preferred.Technical SkillsStrong knowledge of financial planning, cost management, and financial reporting standards.Advanced financial modeling and analytical skills.Strong ERP system knowledge (SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, Odoo, or similar).Excellent command of Excel and financial reporting tools.Soft SkillsStrong leadership and decision-making capabilities.Excellent communication and presentation skills.High level of integrity and professional ethics.
