Role Overview
The E-commerce Marketing Copywriter will develop engaging, conversion-focused email and SMS copy designed to strengthen customer retention and lifecycle marketing performance. This role collaborates closely with design and marketing teams to ensure on-brand messaging that resonates with the outdoor recreation audience and supports long-term customer loyalty.
Key Responsibilities
Email & SMS Copywriting
Write clear, engaging, and conversion-focused copy for email sequences and SMS outreach.
Develop messaging that strengthens customer retention and repeat purchase behavior.
Retention & Lifecycle Campaigns
Support nurturing campaigns across lifecycle stages, including welcome flows, repeat purchase prompts, and re-engagement sequences.
Contribute to campaign concepts that guide subscribers through retention-focused journeys.
Graphic-Based Email Collaboration
Brand Alignment & Audience Focus
Maintain consistent brand voice and tone across all messaging.
Create copy that resonates with the outdoor recreation audience, including fishing, hunting, and related lifestyle communities.
Optimization & Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work with the marketing team to align messaging with retention strategy and campaign goals.
Use performance insights to iterate and improve open rates, click-through rates, and conversions.
Develop effective hooks, subject lines, and campaign angles that drive measurable engagement.
Qualifications
Experience
2+ years of experience in email and SMS copywriting, ideally within ecommerce.
Experience writing graphic-based email copy that supports visual design and engagement.
Background in retention marketing and lifecycle campaign development.
Experience working within or marketing to the outdoor recreation industry (fishing, hunting, firearms, etc.).
Skills
Strong writing skills with the ability to adapt tone and voice to a specific audience.
Deep understanding of retention marketing principles and customer lifecycle strategy.
Resourceful and detail-oriented approach, capable of producing high-quality copy with minimal direction.
