Summary of the role:
The Accountant is responsible for managing daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger maintenance, and bank/cash reconciliations. They prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, support month-end and year-end closing, and assist in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis. The role ensures proper documentation of financial records, support payroll accounting, accruals, provisions, and expense reimbursements, and effectively utilizes ERP/accounting systems, also supports tax compliance and filings under Egyptian regulations.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage daily accounting activities including Accounts Payable, Account Receivable
and General Ledger Maintenance. Including the Bank, Cash and Balance Sheet
Reconciliations - Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, balance sheet,
profit/loss statements, cash flow statements ensuring accuracy and clarity - Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoicing,
collections, and vendor payments - Support month-end and year-end closing activities to ensure timely and accurate
reporting; prepare adjusting entries as required. - Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Maintain accurate and up to date financial records such as income, expenses, assets
and liabilities
and ensure proper documentation - Assist in payroll accounting, accruals, provisions, and expense reimbursements,
ensuring accuracy and compliance with policies. - Utilize ERP/accounting systems effectively, ensuring the smooth integration of
system and processes - Support tax-related filings and compliance with Egyptian regulations, including VAT,
WHT, and income tax; prepare documentation and reports as needed. - Liaise with the external auditors, tax consultant, and regulatory authorities as needed
- Support internal controls and identify opportunities to improve accounting processes
and efficiency - Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Stay informed on the latest trends, and technology in the industry to keep ourcompany at the forefront of innovation.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 4-6 years of relevant accounting experience (mid-level)
- Hands-on experience with ERP or accounting systems; preferably Xero
- Knowledge of Egyptian accounting and regulatory environment
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Fluency in Arabic and English (written and spoken) is mandatory
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Experience in Xero ERP is highly desirable
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and accounting software
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong sense of ownership and accountability
- Effective communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Continuous improvement mindset and process-oriented thinking
Working conditions and Environment:
- The position is Office based in Cairo, Egypt.
