Role purpose
Plan and execute the farm’s produce marketing, sales, and procurement activities to maximise commercial returns, expand and retain the customer base, and ensure product quality from harvest through to delivery. The role also supports the administration of associated real estate activities, ensuring accurate financial follow-up and compliance.
Key responsibilities
A) Produce Marketing and Sales
- Lead the marketing and sales of farm produce (fruit and citrus), including coordination of sales, distribution, and delivery schedules.
- Identify new markets and customers, and maintain strong, long-term relationships with existing buyers.
- Negotiate pricing, volumes, and sales terms with customers, in coordination with the Farm Manager and in line with management direction.
- Coordinate with farm operations on harvest planning, storage, and transportation to safeguard product quality until handover to the customer.
- Develop seasonal marketing plans aligned with crop cycles and production forecasts.
- Track market trends, pricing, and competitor activity; provide regular market updates with recommendations.
B) Farm Procurement and Cost Control
- Execute procurement activities for farm needs: supplier sourcing, evaluation, selection, negotiation, and purchase execution.
- Control procurement spend and support cost optimisation through price benchmarking and supplier management.
- Monitor inventory levels, oversee stock counts, and maintain appropriate safety stock.
- Disburse wages for casual/seasonal labour
- Forecast upcoming requirements based on production plans and operational needs.
- Follow up on payment schedules to ensure timely settlement.
C) Real Estate Administration
- Manage real estate accounts and records (rental income, expenses, deposits, and tenant files).
- Coordinate regularly with the person responsible for real estate matters to ensure smooth operations and issue resolution.
- Support leasing of vacant units and follow up on contract renewals and tenant documentation.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, contracts, and tax requirements.
